O.K. Forum members can anyone tell me anything about this stove / forge???? I just picked up at a garage sale. It looks like it is intact but the lens on the pressure guage is broken. I do not see anyway of pressurizing the tank. From what I could find on te web (very little) I know it burns kerosene and that is it. The stove is in great shape and has alot of cast iron and heavy gauge steel components. Looks like it might be a roarer type burner. Any help would be appreciated BTW - Ross I checked out your picture of a #50 pamphlet on the gallery section. Here are some pictures
Looks like a plumber's smelter, but that's just a guess. I haven't worked with one of these, so I can't offer you much technical advise. Certainly a very interesting piece. HJ
It is a plumber's furnace used for melting (not smelting) lead. Quite common in the days of cast iron plumbing pipes in the time before PVC. Up to the early 1960s in the US.
