    Dear friends,

I ordered some cleaning needles from A&H for my 8R and my 111 stoves (111B and 111 Hiker Multifuel).

Some needles have 5 teeth (they seem older), and one needle has 6 teeth and is a few mm taller (it seems newer).

I'll try them all out, but I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about the reason behind this difference.

Will they both work fine with either the 8R or the 111?
Is one intended for one stove or another?

    Thanks,

    Griz

Yeah ones for the 11T and the others of the 8r /99 Svea.
Can't remember which is which but you can alway file or cut the 6 toother down to size if need be.
Try the 5 toother in the 8r first. It has a smaller stuff box and seems a smaller burner gap between nipple and valve.

    Some will know.

I have a 111T bought used. Little control over height of the flame. I have read a lot on this forum about needles and saw this thread. Mine came with a six-tooth needle and I would like to cut it back to five-teeth. Do I cut off the bottom (the sixth) tooth itself and leave the overall original length of the needle shaft the same, or do I cut off the bottom tooth AND shaft and reduce the overall needle length? Sorry to be so dense. Cannot find a photo of a 2457 cleaning needle. One EBay person is selling a lot of twenty 2457s, but the photo shows six teeth. Thanks. Hank

I would just order a 2457 from basecamp or call and see if A & H has any.

    This picture may help.

The 2455 is on the left (6 teeth) The 2457 on the right (5 teeth)

Cutting from the bottom would give you the result you want.

    Cheers,
    Jeff

Jeff, Thanks much. I will do the cut off with the six tooth needle I have, and also order a new 2457, so I have a spare. Really appreciate the photo of the comparison. Hank

    Hello Hank,

No problem. It is a common problem I find the two cleaning needles. Setting the cleaning needle rack right is the another common problem.
The cleaning needle in some racks/brass holder can be changed/ replaced.

Thanks again for the comparison photo, Jeff. Filed off the sixth tooth and the needle fits perfectly at four teeth down. More adjustment of the flame; stove shuts off as it should. Running on Coleman's fuel. Hank

    Your very welcome.

Anything to get a classic stove going. Enjoy the 111T

Do you have a NRV (Non return valve) tool for getting the valve out at the bottom of the pump?
