I have a Coleman 382 handy Hot Plate which I am presently fettling. It is from the 1930s (Coleman Toronto). The fuel valve has been removed (photo) but I am unsure if the large hex nut is also removable...I have never seen this type of tank/valve arrangement. I have posted on CCF but no answers yet. Does anybody have an idea if it is removable? Is there a tube into which the metering rod goes?...I assume so.

Another question would be that if the large hex nut is removable, is there a corresponding hex nut on the inside of the tank, and the two nuts hold the nipple in place in the wall of the tank?

Seems I forgot to post the "after' pics. The stove is porcelain green...nothing I can do to improve that.

    Hello Blueflame
That is a superb fettle of your hotplate.

Did you ever answer your question?
"Another question would be that if the large hex nut is removable, is there a corresponding hex nut on the inside of the tank, and the two nuts hold the nipple in place in the wall of the tank?"

Yes this was answered. The two fittings are threaded. Large one threads into tank, smaller one acts as a compression fitting for the valve. Been a while.
