    No Ken, I think you were right the first time. It may be able to burn gasoline, but I agree it would not be safe to do so.

    I don't know how the nrv is situated. If it fails won't gasoline exit through the pump?

    @Blueflame

    I use “gasoline” and “kerosene”. In English, these terms do not carry alternate or confusing meaning (unlike for example, gas, white spirits, petrol).

    I should use “alcohol” instead of methylated spirits or metho because, at least here in Australia, our methylated spirits is denatured ethanol and not mixed with methanol.

    The link above to Doron Papo’s international names for fuel is the best guide I’ve found.

    Cheers

    Tony

    Yes, as it will with an Optimus 111B.
    The 111B was designed to use gasoline, but I do not use that stove any longer. My 111Bs are on the shelf now. Just me, you, and others, can do as you wish.

    Ken, my comment was not meant to be confrontational, and I apologize if it came off that way.

    I'm in full agreement that the stove was designed to use kerosene and that the NRV setup, though used on the 111b, lacks important safety features one would like to see on a gasoline (petrol) stove. In addition, I don't even want to see a pressure release screw on a stove containing petrol. It makes the stove look like a kero burner, and I'm afraid someone might absent-mindedly use it.

    @ArchMc I knew that. I did not mean to reply as if it was confrontational.
    You were correct that one could do it. I was just embellishing that I would not.
    No problem. We are good.
