your Thanks are no good here we want to see lot's of pics of it running properly nothing else will do
just a thought but have you tried adjusting the flame plate ? if that's out you can get an uneven flame if you even it out so that you get the same amount of yellow on all the flame i don't reckon it would be far off running right for unleaded i'll fill mine up later with unleaded and show you the difference between unleaded and panelwipe then you will see what i mean, you might get away with just a change of fuel
I will have a fiddle with the plate, and see if that makes a difference.....I have noticed the burner head is a bit out of plumb,I will go and have a look and report back. Cheers Tim
Very Good tip there,a small amount of fine tuning to the burner plate has given even burning....I am very pleased with the results of this fine adjustment........ I am slowly getting drawn in to this obsession with stoves
it's looking good petrol is a bit lairy so the big flame isn't a surprise especially if she's hot tell you what it's not to late why don't you pop to your local 24/7 and buy some ronson or swan lighter petrol/fluid, drain the tank and try the lighter fluid it's just Naptha so will give much the same results as panelwipe/aspen, it will only be about £1.20 ish and you will know this evening if you need a jet or to buy decent fuel.if you continue using unleaded it will bugger up your new baby sooner or later
Excellent work Tim!!! glad you found the problem(s) She will run better on naptha indeed. I find these stoves benefit from a good burn with a pot on the boil for a while. Seems to help clean out a lot of carbon and other 'stuff' Jeff
What is the difference in price between panel wipe and unleaded per ltr? I have some lighter fuel I will give it a go in a bit,I will put up a picture up when it is up and running on the stuff. I will do that Jeff, i will back the heat off the heat before it starts looking like Parramethtrols kettle. Cheers Tim
petrol £1ish a litre panel wipe about £3.50 aspen is cheaper than panel wipe but i'll have to do 40 miles to get some (and can't wait) the £3.50 for panel wipe is a bargain compared to Colemans at around £12 a litre and once you have used it (p/w) you won't use unleaded unless it is life or death
I feel the same way about Aspen & p/w now. I'm much taken with the A4T. Motor petrol isn't even a consideration - I'd swap the petrol stove for a paraffin burner first.
Wow and Dam...... I emptied the tank and filled it with Swan lighter fuel, the first two pictures said it all, very impressed. Then disaster.... all I can think of is crap build up in the fuel line. I extinguished the flame and took out the jet out and let fuel squirt out of the orifice while the tank was still under preasure..... this still has not cleared the blockage. I restarted the stove but no joy, still fired as if I had a blockage?
welcome to the wonderful world of fettling as you said the first two pics show the stoves a goodun you will just have to keep on cleaning the burner and jet out until all the crap finally comes out but it looks like your well on the way to fixing it i ended up running my jet through an ultrasonic cleaner with white vinegar in but the kettle was what sorted it out properly in the end
OK I will persist in the flushing it out to clear it of junk. I think I agree the panel wipe or Aspen is the way to go,I will look in to it.I have a mate who is in to the tree surgery business,I will see if he can pick some aspen up for me. Cheers Tim
do you have a pipette ? if so next time you take the jet out try filling the burner tube with fuel and use the pipette to suck the fuel back out that might pick up any loose bits do it a few times squirting the fuel in as hard as you can as it might dislodge any loose crap. if it doe's pick up crap keep doing it till the fuel comes out clean use your unleaded for that though as that's about all it's good for
The "cotton" mop strands I had were full of stuff that was not cotton. I ended up using cotton gauze bandage. This seemed to work quite well.
£12 per liter for Coleman. That's about $20 USD. Yipes. And there hasn't been an overthrow of the govenment? We usually pay about £2 per liter in the US, depending on where one shops.
hey i spell in English from wiki spelling differences In British usage, some words of French, Latin, or Greek origin end with a consonant followed by -re, with the -re unstressed and pronounced /ər/. Most of these words have the ending -er in the US.[30][31] The difference is most common for words ending -bre or -tre: British spellings theatre, goitre, litre, lustre,
