OK this is the problem, after a few attempts at clearing the jet and relighting things were looking very pleasing indeed.
I was taking the burner and tank out of the case for a final clean and shake out, I left the key attached when I pulled the tank from it,s housing ,and this is the result.
In some ways perhaps this is a bit of luck as I can say I did not use excessive force.... was the joint already fractured or weak?.
All the same I am p***** off.

    hi Tim
i feel gutted for you mate i know nothing about brasing or soldering but maybe it can be fixed ?
i found you on ebay   don't worry i won't ask if you will take a buy it now for your tent ;)
but it's fairly obvious your a canny shopper !
that 111b you bought i saw in the completed listings and thought some lucky bas***d got a result there
i have the 111 kero that is it's twin sister right down to the white knob,
did yours have the cut out for the latch to sit in on the drop down flap? as mine hasn't and the only other one i have seen that is the same case front is the early green one in the ref gal
btw congrats on the 199 as well nice collection you have from what i could see

Small World ,yes I was very lucky with the 199,German Ebay, one bidder and my self......he did not do pay pal so £15.00 for a bank transfer, but still very cheap from what I have seen them going for.
Last week I back packed with my wife Coniston,,Langdale, over to waste dale Head and then up to Keswick,I took the 199 with me us,what a great stove,i ran it on petrol,Ihave got the message about the panel wipe and the Aspen gear.
I did not intend to get to involved with stoves to much,I ski tour a great deal with two mates Canada Norway and the USA,the last few seasons we have had some pretty serious gear failures, not with just stoves tents and other bits Cutting the weight down on new gear is going to far now, a broken fuel pump at Waste Dale head is not much of a issue,it is on the Hardanger Vidda in a January storm....we have had it happen.
I used optimus stoves in the army....I have not got a clue what they were,I was drawn to this site after making up a Kap Artic from a 111T that was going cheap {Jackie on Ebay},this is the stove we will be using next season.
I then read about the 199 and the 99.... very pleased with what I have........ The No 8 was the collecting bug taking hold.
I have a mate coming up on Friday,he,s one of the old time plumbers he said it may be repairable,if not it will be up on Ebay for parts.
I do enjoy reading the post on here it is very friendly community .

petrol in a 199  your brave.i don't have the balls to try that   i use paraffin in mine she gets way to hot for petrol for my taste
and yes CCS is a great place to spend your time,
if your going to be using the Kap Arctic set up in those sorts of conditions you will HAVE to do a full field test with lot's of pics and let us all know how you got on with it

    Teletim -
I'm no expert. I'm also a little clumsy when it comes to silbrazing myself. But, I'd think that your damage could indeed be repaired by any competent bloke with real silbrazing skills and you would be good to go. Don't give up on it yet would be my advice, for whatever it's worth.

I think *I* could fix it, and if a baboon like me thinks he could, someone with *real* brazing skills should have no problem.

    Hang in there, mate!

    Cheers,
    Gary

    hi Tim
Gary is being modest mate there aren't many baboons that can produce work like this

    his home made 199
    1240444772-IMGP0168.jpg

his home made 96 silent cap
    1241744516-IMGP0453.jpg

his home made Radius 7 "Special Silent" Cap  one of the nicest flame patterns i have seen btw

but if he reckons there might be a chance it can be fixed then it probably can :D

  YES  i have a tab open with my favourite searches on ebay that i refresh every couple of mins, i do this religiously so that i spot the "buy it now" bargains that are newly listed before anyone else sees them, if i've been away from the puter cooking/shopping/sleeping the first thing i do is search the completed listings and see what i missed   it's my way of punishing myself for not being there searching all the time :rage:
it might sound daft but seeing things go that were either a real bargain or even just a good deal is hell of an incentive to make you more diligent

btw the price you paid for it was unbelievable and i did see that you sold it but the price you got for it i still thought was a great deal and that was before you posted that link showing pukka photo's of it running, now i'm gutted a second time for missing a tasty stove  that's a first

Very nice,I think I saw the thread of you getting it together ,did you just buy the burner and tank, and went from there?.
I think I will go and fill mine up with paraffin and make a brew...

yes i saw the tank burner and mini pump&cap on ebay France and paid about what a new midi pump would normally cost so reckoned i had nothing to lose,
then the 199 base came up on ebay.com i paid a small fortune for it but it was in really good condition with the stickers unmarked so i HAD to have it,
the pan, heat shield, pot lifter, strap and windshield came from a 99 as they are the same bits (well the heatshield is different but it works)
and the pot stand came from New Zealand with a Loke that i traded off another member

sounds like a plan i think i'll do the same 8)
