Possibly sold as a Taykit. I picked this up yesterday (for 25% off its ticket price). It has been in a major conflagration. So much so, the wick is carbon flakes! Cheers Tony
Nice price. See there are a 99 & 8R on eBay at the moment, both have just gone over 120 dollars with 3 days left to run. Stove prices are out of control. EDIT: the stove is missing the heat shield/pot stand stops, but would assume you already noticed that.
Yes, looks like someone used the tried-and-true "soak in in gas and toss a lit match" method to start it. I'm betting it fixes up nicely, though. ....Arch
The wire bail across the fuel tube to the burner might not be original. It possibly serves as a stop for the forward-leaning pot support. I had one and it was dependable though a little unsteady. It got pinched along with the day-pack it was in. I suspect the thieving bastard was a bit disappointed as there was not much else in the pack.
I bought two 99 unfired clones a few years ago at a yard sale behind my shop, neither one had a heat shield. The one I have used is a much better stove than you would think from the rough machine work, it really cranks out the heat.
I had one of those, long gone now, The rubber sleeve on the key is a handy thing; it slips off so you can use the spanners in the key handle. Atomic envy!
Whaaaaaaaaaaaat is that contraption on the stove? Is that a coffee/espersso maker? I think I want one. I have never seen anything like that. How's it work?
@Andrew Palfi It’s an ”Atomic”!coffer maker. I’ve had it since September 1984. It gets used every day. They are pricy these days, but excellent! There are copies, but the original is the best. It’s great on a pressure stove as well. Look here: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/coffee-on-a-beautiful-spring-day.30781/#post-312268 Cheers Tony
What are the round knob and the J shaped tube for? Wish I'd have gotten one in 1984! I'm gonna have to find a fixer-upper for those prices!
@Andrew Palfi The round knob opens the steam control valve; the j-tube emits the superheated steam for preparing milk for cappuccino (if you’re into that kind of thing). Tony
