Picked up this guy few weeks ago. Been waiting on new filler cap seal which was delivered on Saturday… voilà!

Case is not in great shape but I’ll do what I can to preserve it…

Anyone got any idea as to the age of this stove?

@kerophile that’s my problem, there are no letters stamped on the base of the tank

These are from the original listing. I’m away for the next couple days, I can post more when I’m back on Thursday if that helps…

    Congrats.
    age?
I suggest 1931-1933/34, the 1st version of the Primus 71

    Fettler you are the man!
    @Doug Imrie
that is quite a stove you got there!

oops, i misspoke, credit Fettler that i now see the error in my ways.
    re my:
    "age?
I suggest 1931-1933/34, the 1st version of the Primus 71"

at best, this ^^^ detail is now in question (not a match to your stove),
it is just as likely that i am flat wrong about that
(Fettler "repairs" comment made me aware (hint hint nudge nudge know what i mean)).
    I missed it.
The update also emphasizes that is ... quite a stove you got there!

i no longer assume the tank is stamped Primus 71 (but tank is stamped Primus 71 right?... you call it a Primus 71).
Given that this for me is yet another interesting head scratcher and i'm happy if members get it sorted.
i'll follow with interest and catch up.
    -------------------
As an aside: if i'm right, this could be a lengthy discussion prior to "ID" of exactly what early version this is, and from approx. when. Lengthy discussions / Q&A's in the reference gallery is not my preference, that's just me.
    gotta run

Similar to my oldest Primus 71 - basically a late Primus 70 in a 70 tin marked 70 but tank is marked 71 without age stamp and the burner is first regulated for Primus 71.

As for my "...this for me is yet another interesting head scratcher" just over a month ago.
i may have been thinking the pin was added? I think initially it looked to me like the pin was not in it's normal position (having double checked), it is in the normal position.

The valve is not located as one might expect, may be in-part how i got but confused. Valve in that position functionally probably doesn't matter. Looking like a first version Primus 71. Sorry for casting doubt.
    Nice stove, congrats.
