Hello everyone. Im sure you will all be pleased to hear that although im very new to lanterns and stoves my 10yr old son is very keen to learn about them also. We decided to start sorting out our Primus No 5 stove and while son was cleaning up the tank he noticed engraving. I think im correct in saying as it has aa on the bottom it dates from 1936 but ive no clue what is engraved . Does anyone know what it is and if its original. Id love to shed light on the wee dudes find . Thanks Screenshot_20240317_183630_Messenger.jpg

re "... im very new to lanterns and stoves my 10yr old son is very keen to learn about them also." yes that is very good to hear.

re "... our Primus No 5"
can you just confirm that yours is a "Primus No.5" and not a "Primus No.5 S:or", please? Thank you.

re "...as it has aa on the bottom it dates from 1936" well done

re "...but ive no clue what is engraved . Does anyone know what it is and if its original."

    About engraved/original:
The impressive markings into the brass of classic camp stoves are stamped into brass sheet (vs engraved).
Such markings on brass tanks are certainly original. The tanks are assembled from several *pieces (of sheet brass) that get brazed/soldered together during production.
*The pieces are press-formed and stamped with the markings before the tank is assembled into one piece (with very few exceptions). So in very nearly 100% of cases the markings are stamped into brass pieces, pre-assembly, during production. FWIW I'm not aware of any engraving done by Swedish stove makers.

Your engraving example "Does anyone know what it is"
It is Arabic script is the short answer.

What does your script example translate to?
That is a far more difficult question to answer. It went unanswered here > Primus No5 script .
Yet it seems I have answered that exact question in the past (several hrs, deep dive iirc) eg topic is script of Primus 1 & 5 s
A scroll down (when you're there ^^^) , finds that the (large and small versions of script) both translate to Made in Sweden
(i SURELY could've been more clear with translation answer but that is my impression of my comments of 3 1/2 years ago : ) .
