Hello CCS... I'm going to rebuild my M1950 stove and just could not find the search function on here to do so... Doc mentioned this was the site and he had written info on this... had a big fireball so I need to order all my seals and so forth... next time I buy a stove I will go through it completely before trying to light it... thanks, Gary
Hi, if you look on the RHS of this screen, below the Fettle Box advert, You will see a Modest little box, with the "greyed out" words "Google Custom Search" and another box below it with "Search". Once you have inserted the search word or phrase you "press" this search button. Enter M50, for example and you will get posts such as this one from John: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/21702 Trust this helps. Best Regards, Kerophile.
Hey, Gary, Yep, as I mentioned in our PT, always check out the seals, gaskets, and pips, before trying to fire up a new stove find!! I learned that the hard way, and now, so have you! Patience, when dealing with flammable fuels and pressure appliances, MUST be used, in order to stay safe and have fun!! Not to worry, your M1950 will come back to life, with patience, and careful fettling of all seals, gaskets, and pips. Take, care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
Hi Gary, I'll comment, re your "had a big fireball so I need to order all my seals and so forth" BUT Safety first: there are many links re lighting untested stoves, i can recommend searching [ fire extinguisher ]. Along w/fuel leakage or your fireball are stoves that "start off" fine but problems can develop. A solid safety routine will serve you well all the time but certainly for untested stoves. I'm +1 w/all of the above, you will thoroughly check it out and find the extent of repairs you want done. Re the fireball on user stoves it can quite easily occur w/various models (I don't have a 1950). On the upside, you have pressurized fuel... that's progress! Lighting a stove... Did you by chance have any question re lighting? here are a couple links w/lighting instructions and a lot more. https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/14957 https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/241 best of luck omc
ok guys, I got it...I did see that google search earlier but thought that was just another ad for for google which it was..da!!! thanks, Gary
Gary, are you the guy running around town without any eyebrows? If you don't have or can't use a fire extinguisher you can also keep a bucket of water with a water sogged expendable bath towel at the ready if things should go "Mini Chernobyl" on you.
I wonder if there are many of us , if any , that have never had singed hair ????? I will admit to it . and it possibly will happen again cheers, kerry
Well I thought I'd better check that out so I put 'david' into it and it brought up quite a few of my early adventures here. These I found highly interesting and amusing and I'm glad we keep these things for the occasional nostalgic wander down memory lane. I didn't spot a single ad for Google, though...
