Do burner/riser washers --one above the spirit cup, one below-- typically need to be snugged up after some initial use, or over time?

I ask because while playing with my newly fettled/assembled Pr100 + Op207 (Frank, the PrOp307) --running it up, backing it off, getting the feel for it, playing with a heater-dome that might be a nice accessory for the boat's cabin-- the stove gave a pretty good "Pop!" and a considerable amount of yellow flame appeared in the spirit cup.

Hm. Not ideal. It had run just fine for its preliminary qualifying burns, so-oo...?

A couple shut-downs and re-starts exposed the same leak, typically after strong pumping and a couple minutes at heat. Attempting the obvious solution, I grabbed a couple wrenches --and much to my surprise got probably 320° more on that joint. Almost another full turn of the burner into the riser.

Fearing I may have trashed a washer, I then pulled it apart, but discovered that the (brand new) washers are, to all appearances, perfectly intact. And it went back together with another 40° of tightening. I'm not giving it the gorilla treatment, either; this is a brass fitting, not steel, and I'm using a standard Optimus spanner and a small adjustable wrench.

After all the tightening, it seems to run just fine, and waving a lit match around near the joint doesn't ignite any leaks. So-oo... Are we good?

This feels like the sort of adjustment that might be typical, but me being a Nervous Nellie, especially about flame-producing mechanisms aboard a wooden boat, I just want to check in and see what others' experiences have been.

Any voices of experience would be welcome.

Yes, the new washers need to be snugged up after a few stove uses. I think they must shrink a little during the initial break in period. After one or two adjustments they should be good for the long run.

Yes, after you fire up the stove you need to re-tight the joint where fiber type seals have been changed. Same for new/replaced jet also.
