At one time a Svea 126 had come my way as a side catch on two other stoves I wanted to acquire, but these Max Sievert' cookers are always welcome as being of excellent quality and with an exclusive identity worthy to highlight.

To produce a collapsible two pint stove was a matter 'of course' for Svea and practically all other makers. The square tin in which this type stove came is much in line with the Optimus and Radius stoves, as well as several german brands. The size of the tin allows the inclusion of a trivet - something that was not possible with the Primus big tins that are of rectangular shape with one dimension shorter.

Yet it could be that such a trivet was not part of the standard offering, as a page in a 60's catalogue suggests, perhaps to be able to offer this stove at the lowest price possible, and offer the trivet as an extra.
Either these trivets were lost through the years, or this option was not needed for most owners, as most stoves indeed appear without.

Of the major known brands, being swedish, german or otherwise, SVEA is one of the few, if not the only maker to stamp most of the parts with, I think, an exclusive part number, including the wrench and presumably the meth's tin that, like many, is lost here along the way.

Apart from the remarkable moniker "King of Stoves" and the suggestive 'Safety Stove', both no doubt from the marketing department,

Sievert stoves are distinguishable by the fine knurling of small fitments like the tank stopper

and less conspicious details if left alone for a good 60 or 70 years:

The Sievert company had of course export with many destinations in mind, and this postwar leaflet has instructions in nine different languages, including Czech, suggesting perhaps that country was still considered open to (capitalistic) marketing before the ideologic winds changed.

In all, a very nice stove in it's 'lada', save for the spirit can rather complete, and for the future owner to find a trivet if wanted, just like a 70 years ago.

Addendum: the fuel capacity of the 126 is slightly bigger than the regular 2-pint models: 2 1/4 pint or 1,3 litre.

Plus a more correct picture of the SVEA offerings in square tins, here an illustration of such tin but for the 106 model. Clearly, a trivet is lacking as a standard accesory.

A simple, smart, well made travelling stove. I like the script of the writing on the tin.

Thank you Frank, but do not expect too much from me in the future, as I am basicly out of stoves, with no more additions as I am done with collecting. I might present the stoves that I intend to keep as a collection, but there are only three, plus a 535 on alcohol, my future fuel. Regards, Mike
