    I bought this http//cgi.ebay.fr/GOURDE-QUART-RECHAUD-ARMEE-SUISSE_W0QQitemZ6229293124QQcategoryZ100607QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
out of curiosity, and because it's shown here as an accessory to Borde stoves http//www.#page2

Does any of you have some more info about these?

    Thanks, Jur

    Good Morning, Jur,

There Swiss cooksets seem to be very available right now. I got two of them for about $10, from Ebay. The hole in the bottom does not fit the Borde, like it used to do. But, a little time with some tin snips, and a file, and you can enlarge the hole and fit your Borde into it's rightful place. You _will_ have to work down the inside bottom area to make the stove lays flat, but once done, it works perfectly!! Beware, though, when using it with your Borde, that the bottom of this cookset gets hot enough to burn a mark on wood!! I learned the hard way!!  But, it works very well with that stove. I gave the other one I got, to a Stove Mate, and believe that he is going to use it in the same manner as have I. Good luck, have fun, Merry Christmas, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc Mark

    Good afternoon (over here) Doc,

Do you mean the stove should fit into the hole including part of its tank?
My Borde stove's front part (so the coil and burner) does fit into the hole, but no further than the tank's front side, which is just a bit too wide. Also the stove then actually rests not on this side's lower side, but with the two coils's pipes on the hole's lower rim.

Here's another one exactly like mine http//mypage.bluewin.ch/vergaserlampen/Borde-bkl3.jpg

Btw it's bit weird how this set up apparantly is meant to warm that relatively huge flask. What is one supposed to do with 3/4 liters of hot whatever liquid? Search me.

    Cheers, Jur

    Hey, Jur,

I'm sending a couple of photos of the way my Borde fits into that cookset.

    DSCN0880.jpg

Here's one of the burner, inside the set. It works very well, and the only serious limitation is the blasted cup for cooking, instead of a real pot.

I hope this helps you see how I fit my Borde into the cookset. Got to run, I have much to do today, and little time left to do it, before my Mother-in-law arrives ths morning! I have just spent some enjoyable time talking to Bart, from the Netherlands!!! That was fun, and very cool to do!!! Now, I must get back to work! Merry Christmas, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc Mark

The stove sits on a alum. channel with grove cut in it for the front bottom to stay level all you now do side it in plus the front left to length so it hits back wall to keep in middle
    my two cents

    Great photos Doc Mark!

Robert, your photo is also great. But one question, does that propeller make yours the first trans-continental Borde? 'Have-Stove-Will-Travel' (how many of you are old enough to know where that comes from?)

    Wish I had a Borde!

    Hey, Shag,

His name was Richard Boone, known for his role as Paladin, in "Have Gun, Will Travel", and also for portraying a wonderful, but very, very bad guy, in movies like, "Hombre", with Paul Newman. Take care, Merry Christmas, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,

    Hi Doug and Doc

Yes, Richard Boone. I cut my tongue out and it was on the tip.
He was rough looking but really cool. - the original anti-hero.

Anyway, it is 2.30 am and I have just wrapped my last present.
My son, who I raised alone, is now 20 but I will delight at the light in his eyes when he sees his Christmas presents underneath the tree.

Merry, merry Christmas to you all. Have a great day with your family and friends.

I look forward to your Christmas-time stories and maybe some of you could post some photographs. I hopefully will be seeing David on Boxing Day and there are bound to be pics for you all to see.

    Hi Trevor

For the first time in a couple of years both of my lads were here for Christmas ( lads ! they're 22 and 20, and both bigger than me ! ).

Without any prompting one asked to see some of my stoves so I set them up a little display almost showing generations, namely 8R, 111B and 22 together with 96, 210 and 5 with the Nobel stove in the background to show them what a bit of an oddball looks like ( no comments DS please ! ).

I then lit up three of them, and I think they were reasonably impressed ( enthusiasm for anything I do went out the door years ago  ), well at least they didn't rush off and asked a few intelligent questions ( probably humouring me ! )

By the way I got one of these new bunsen burner type lighters - they are excellent for stove lighting, just don't go too close as they could blast the Meths out of the priming cup !

    Regards

    Keith

    Hi Keith

Great that you had your sons home. When I talk about stoves, my son also is very polite and feigns interest - how sweet!

I must get one of those lighters that you mention. Any chance of a picture and/or details of the make, model, etc?

    Morning Trevor

The lighter bears the name Flaminaire and mine looks like this :

    Lighter3.jpg

And in action looks like this :

    Lighter1.jpg

Sorry about image quality on the second, must have post-Christmas shakes !

Because it isn't a lazy flame when you incline it towards a spirit cup it doesn't curl upwards and burn your pinkies ! I think they are generally available in newsagents, tobacconists etc. It works just fine, no more fiddling with matches for me :D

    Cheers

    Keith
