The Coleman 413C stove was made from 1947-1949, and there were three basic variations. This is an early variation without the red Coleman parallelogram and with a brass badge with the model number. A later variation had the red Coleman parallelogram logo on the inner lid and an embossed model number below the handle. All feature lighter weight stamped steel manifold/burners and Band-a-blu burners.

This stove was purchased by the Western Fire Equipment Co. of San Francisco and stored in a custom aluminum box. The original cardboard Coleman box was altered to fit around it. The instruction sheet is dated 4/47. (I don't remember the date on the Wichita Beacon newspaper.)

I didn't have to do a thing to it, it came exactly like this. Interesting to me is the black painted manifold.

Wow! Between the stove and the custom case, I cannot but be curious about the story that might be behind it and the intent of the owner. Very good find.

That's a beauty. It might have been sold by the fire equipment company as equipment for a brush truck, for prolonged use in the field, i.e. multi-day forest fires.

    Howdy, StanDahl,

Welcome to CCS, and thanks for sharing this great old Coleman 413C!! I've never seen one like it before, and appreciate the great photos of your stove. I also see that you are from Southern California. You should consider joining us at the upcoming CASG8 (California Stove Gathering #8), which will be held on May 7-11, at Cottonwood Campground, Group camp #3, Joshua Tree National Park, CA. Not that far from you, and you could come out and camp with us, and enjoy some stove fettling, good food, and good company, or if you can only manage a day visit, come on out, and have a fun day of fun with a bunch of Stovies from CA, AZ, and also the UK!! Check out the "Events" section here on CCS, or send me a PT, if you need more information. If you can join us, please bring your wonderful Coleman stove, for "Show and Tell", and anything else you'd care to share with us. We all will have something fun to share, too. Take care, hope to see you there, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc
