My slightly damaged Peak 1 arrived in a Coleman padded sack in a coffee can in a box. Already fuelled. A little starting gel and whammo. A couple of shots and the fire just turned off glowing steel shot.

    Hey Diesel,

Nice find, that's a great little stove. It's one of the few liquid stoves with excellent flame control. Have fun with it!

    Hey Diesel,
How was that stove damaged? Looks great! I just came across the same one at a flea market. Unburned in the box, the burner bowl is a bit tilted and the legs hold the stove at a very slight angle, but burns well and holds a pot well. Must be a factory thing. The stove must have been assembled on a Friday before work let out at the Coleman factory.

    Hey, Diesel,

The Coleman Peak 1 Model 400 was the very first backpacking stove that Sweet Bride and I got, "back in the old days"! We love that stove, and ours still works like a champ, and I've never had to do a single thing to it, other than oil the pump bucket every few years!! The foam padding in it's original Coleman stuff sack finally rotted, and is useless. But, the old 400 still works perfectly!! The brown ones, like yours and mine, were the very best of breed, in my humble opinion. Later versions, especially the ones without the wonderful simmering/flame control, are a poor substitute, as far as I'm concerned! Congrats on getting a fine little stove, that should become your trusted friend, and will offer you many, many years of faithful service!! Great pics, by the way! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc
