This is where I found out that the fuel tank is sample-burst tested to 500 psi. It inflates like a balloon in the video.

That is a good video. I have one of those suitcase stoves that my Dad bought before I was born.

I have many great memories of that green box providing many meals.

I really ought to dig it out and get it going again.

 

I can remember many times we would go out fishing...my Grandfather, Uncle, Dad and me. We would take off in the early morning, usually Grandpa and my Uncle one way on the stream Dad and me the other. We would fish all day.

Coming back towards dusk we would walk up and smell the coffee. Grandpa had the old Coleman on the tailgate of his stationwagon perking up a good strong brew.

A cup of that in hand I would listen to the three of them while they all exchanged some whopper fish stories...and me knowing at least one of the tellers was stretching the fish a might.

I bet that old Coleman has more memories in it than any other stove I have. All of them pretty good ones too.

So does it mean coleman stoves are still made in the states?

 

I sure hope so!

I just bought one of these just a short while ago.

If not, Chinese manufacturing has made some vast improvements!

I'm not so sure all (if any) Coleman stuff is still made in the US. Last year I stumbled upon a Chinese wholesaler's website advertising Coleman 2-burner stoves (and vely cheap too). Only limitation was (iirc) max. output of 500 stoves per week. Quality is simply a matter of what the customer wants(to pay for), the Chinese can make goods as good as any other country (they mostly have very modern, up to date machinery).

the same factory makes genuine chevy parts on mondays coleman stoves on tuesday luis viton handbags on wednesday msr tents on thursday and genuine NZ Greenstone souvenirs from local Greenstone even though they never import any on fridays.

Well, I went and checked one of my Coleman Model 424 Dual Fuel stoves to see where it was made, which is still in the box. I just had to know.

I'm glad to say that it is Made in USA but made with US and Foreign components, which parts are which, no one knows.

I would guess the large components like the case, tank, band-a-blue burners, and the burner manifold are made in Wichita, KS. Perhaps the generator, fuel valve and pickup, and check valve and pump are made elsewhere, since these may be labor intensive to make here. Just like many of the vehicles that are made here but with foreign components.

The copyright was 8 years ago, but the stove was purchased back in Novemberish of last year. It's possible that the stock could have sat on the shelf for 8 years, but I doubt it, copyrights can be pretty old and be on current products.

Walmart stock doesn't get that old. I'm pretty sure they don't allow stuff to sit that long before they have to get rid of it. Besides, I'm in camping vacation land where people go camping for family fun as much as beach-goers go to the beach, so camping equipment in general moves a lot in the stores here.
