There have been a few Kamp Kook stoves coming up for sale around here and I wondered what is their quality like?
i assume this is a two burner with a heavy steel grill. these are built like a truck.i have a couple as they are easy to find in minnesota,un-like a classic brass stove.any weakness is the sheet metal box.the brass tanks are heavy and like all old stoves would need pump work,a leather is about all.the generator and burners are like coleman only cast iron.people would strap these to the running boards of old cars and they would last for years. made in a nearby town long ago so i sort of gave them good marks.
If they are complete stoves would not hesitate buying one. Have small No.3 and No.7 with cast iron grate Both are wonderful stoves and see regular use. AGM made quite a few stoves and lanterns back in the day. Some are at the century mark or getting close in age. Some have internal pump and some need external pump. Plenty to view in gallery. Thanks for the information. Picking up a Coleman 413 G and 425 E here locally Sunday. I found a super clean in the box Coleman in Columbus, Ohio that my sister picked up for me this week for $20.00. All the paper work is there, no rust which is rare in Indiana. I will work on the old ones during down time at work. For $12.50 each how can I go wrong? Waiting to find a Kamp Kook locally. Since you are jumping into stoves, stock up on parts, Coleman may not fit other makes. Our sponsor carries some parts, but Oldcolemanparts and Basnett's fill in gaps. You'll be disappointed if you can't fire up a stove because you don't have parts or unable to fashion your own. Also, unlike Coleman, aside from washers and pump cups, parts will not be found except maybe lantern gennys. Duane
I have 4 KampKook AGM stoves,,, all of them functioned perfectly when found in the wild, even though some of them hadn’t been used in decades… Two model 11’s, circa 1950… There are some minor cosmetic differences from the factory… (Some of them shown in this link; KampKook Model WCS 11 ) My personal favorite is the stove on the left; it has a wonderful story… This model 12 I’ve been told was made only in 1960,,, nice stove anyway… It also lit right up as soon as I added some fuel to the tank… And a #3,,, the folding legs determine it was made between 1924 and 1929… Fun little stove, and it is quite small,,, quite heavy too…
