    Perhaps it was set up to work inverted?

    That's right of course. Why didn't I think of that? :doh: I've got a stove with a snorkle for underwater use.

    It's for use with highly volatile priming fuel.

    Greetings, All,

    Interesting that the Lindberghs were planning on using "gasoline from the fuel tanks" to power the stove. Sounds like a recipe for disaster, unless the plane was flying on kerosene. I wonder about that part of the story. What say you, Folks? I have an Optimus version of what I believe is the exact same model of this stove, which I bought on "the bay" as a "box of parts", many years ago. I'll have to dig it out, and compare it to the Lindbergh Primus. Fun stuff, in any case. Thanks to @Blueflame for sharing this! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

    @Blueflame ,

    Thanks! I think that the photos that show the upside-down spirit cup is a very nice "safety feature", when burning gasoline, don't you think!?!?? ;):whistle::whistle::lol:

    That's why they called him "Lucky Lindbergh."

    They were just looking forward to a time when they would be flying a jet.
