@lisantica From the photo of the band it has a slight appearance of rust oxide. May want to test with a magnet, as it may help narrow down the date range, along with the burner holder located in the upper wind screen.

Thank you @Etherman, I will check in the morning.
Here is a photo of my new 27 HA version next to the old one. The pot in the new one is propped higher because I put one of those pot stands in there to try it out.

Any recommendations for removing the rust oxide?
I have a product called Flitz in my shed, would it work?
I just used soapy water with a soft scrub sponge to do the initial cleaning.

I’m not familiar with Flitz, and my browser complained about connecting to their website. It appears to me to just be a metal polish, and is advertised to remove oxides from brass.

If the part is iron, then the Flitz will probably not be adequate for removing the iron oxide (rust). The thing to do is try it on a small area. First, though, follow @Etherman ’s suggestion and test with a magnet.

if the magnet sticks, you can try one of the rust conversion products that contains phosphoric acid. The one I like to use is sold in the US as OsPho. Be careful not to get anything that contains phosphoric acid on the aluminum portion. I would use a small artist-type paint brush to carefully apply the solution. OsPho converts the rust to an iron phosphate compound, and stops the rusting process where it is painted. It dries to a gray color — dark gray if the rust is heavy.

I tried to look it up, there are too many items in their product list. Which product do you have?

I will also look up the OsPho product.

According to the SDS it has ammonia.
This is not recommended for brass pressure vessels, but it would be ok for aluminum pots, if you want.
Personally, I just use soap and water.

@Etherman, unquestionably the band is steel, very strong pull to the magnet as were the 3 holders.
Here is the logo where the strap goes through.

The 27 appears to have made its debut by 1957. By the early 60's (according to Trangia-central.com) the burner screen is located in the lower windscreen, this could be the time frame for your vintage set.

As far as the rust, it looks to be minimal and in excellent condition. My go to method is using Evaporust, available at hardware stores. If that wasn't available I would use a soft brush and vinegar followed up with a wipe down of oil.

Thank you again @Etherman, my burner is located in the upper windscreen. I put a star on the one where the burner goes into. The bottom one is just a large hole.

You might be able use a Tundra lid.
It might fit your kit. I use mine with my 25.
"Lid in Non-stick for the Tundra set . Fits all saucepans 1.5 and 1.75 L, so works good to use with your Trangia stove 25 Large"

Bought some Trangia items in order to make a complete 27 kit. Bought a few extra items which allowed for free shipping, plus I figure the items will be used.
The kettle is for my 25 kit.
