    Here’s another Optimus 111 triple fuel. All complete and probably never used.

    @Edwin S - If the stove has not been used, it would be somewhat odd for a previous owner to have taken a pair of tin snips to the windshield in the manner shown - for what reason? :-k

    Later Optimus 111T production had a known ‘shredding’ / fracturing issue where some windshields would split in a similar manner yours has. I had a later 111T whose windshield had begun to do the same but in my case, I was able to fortunately repair the splits with an extreme heat bonding agent before they had become too pronounced.

    @Pharael
    so its the brass that wants to return to its original state, a flat sheet.
    No bonding agent repairing this one

    @Edwin S - Essentially, it was the improper annealing process of the brass by Optimus which then left internal pressure stresses to remain within the windshield. Over time, this would cause multiple stress cracks to occur around the lower rim of the windshield leading to this upward ‘shredding’ of the brass.

    Wow! I've never seen, nor even heard about any such thing! And, I own "quite a few" Optimus 111T stoves. None of mine have exhibited this trait. :-k:?:

    PS - the 111T stoves are amongst my most favorite, by the way!

    Likely it was certain batches, plenty more have cracked in the same way here.

    What seems odd to me is that the cracks almost seem to be across the horizontal grain / machining marks on the inside of it.

    I've definitely seen this before and I'm pretty sure I had an example of my own at some point in time. However, it certainly wasn't from any variant of 111 because I didn't own a 111 until so recently that I've yet to try it.
    Regards
