Got this a couple weeks ago at a local on-line auction and fired it up today. Pricker doesn't clear the jet (it's there) but after burning a minute it will go into underburn. Seems like a small orange flame underneath burner and then the roar. Haven't snooped around yet (tomorrow) but any words of wisdom? IMG_2139[1].JPG

Try the jet. Might not be seated completely... Hmm

Agree with @Remus1956 - and whilst you remove/refit the jet (worth adding copper grease to the threads) you may want to take the opportunity of a check/adjust of the jet cleaning needle. I generally set mine to four clicks.

I know jet is tight, I took it out before I fired it because I couldn't see the needle protruding. Needle is there, gotta play with the "clicks" tomorrow, as well as snoop reason for underburn.

4 clicks has worked for me. Could be the needle is not settled correctly

Consider flushing the tank with acetone in case debris is interfering with fuel vaporisation.

My user had to be brazed around the middle (Venturi). Will get a pic soon.

PS: Sounds like what mine was doing, sent it off to Gary/Bernie Dawg quite a few years ago now to braze up.

The 111c and also the Ranger must be of low quality production. I have 2 111c burners cracked, but on mine it looks like the crack is between the burner plate and the burner house. Just investigating this now.

I have a Optimus 111 (silent burner) that had the same problem.
It had a little crack on the underside of the burner.
The fumes ignite, when the burner becomes hot.
I dismantled the burner and silbrazed the crack. Since then, it works fine.

Sometimes, the crack opens only, when the burner is hot. Then look closely where wisps swirl around the burner.
Take a spoon to shield the sides of the burner to the jet and look closely.

    Or with cold burner:
Take off the cap, wash the burner with degreaser. Pressurize the stove (valve closed), you may find a moist spot where the crack is.

@hikerduane I did the same to mine to practice when I was trying to follow along.
@Majicwrench maybe take the burner and tank out of the case and watch it from the side. Remember where you are seeing the flame and look at it with a jewelry loop for a crack

Mine has cracks around the jet somewhere. As long as the valve is closed they are fine. But when I open the valve i get a nice camp fire. It's hard to se where the crack is because of the open jet. = mor investigation. Anyone have burner for sale or do advance repair on these?

I appreciate this thread as I have a Phoebus 625 stove that is having the same issue. I'll have to take another look at it to see what's going on with it.
