This came with an Optimus 3.

It is not the correct head for the stove, I think it may have been for a range stove, maybe somebody can enlighten me.

It comes in at a whopping 113mm diameter.

I have used the standard 1 3/4/ 2pint stove burner head for size comparison.

Thanks for Mike at Base Camp for the inner and outer burner cap.

Hi Ian, That is a huge burner skirt!

    https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/124

According to this 1929 Optimus catalogue the No.202b burner was used on the Optimus 35 stove, which like the Op. 3 had a 6.5 pint tank capacity.
    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

WOW! That is one very sexy burner there, Ian! =P~

The 202 would have been found on the Optimus 35 originally as found here in the 1939 Opti catalog here at CCS:

It's the same size as the silent burner on the Radius 38 which I've posted in the Gallery - 112mm.

Congratulations on a terrific find!

I know where you can get the correct burner for your number three. Drop me a PT if interested.

    Best,
    Gary

PS - I see George beat me to it whilst I was writing!

    Iani,
I also have a large silent burner of same .. coming with a No.3 Primus stove.. BUT knowing that it is not the original silent (original silent = 4142 ).
The only marking on mine is on the steel outer cap marked 'swedish special steel'.
The 4142 burner is significantly smaller .
Perhaps an enquire to Mike the stove (Basecamp) will give us more info .
Sorry i'm of little help .

    Nick

    Thanks Kerophile.

Thanks for coming to the rescue.

    Gary

Optimus cheated with this silent burner, its only the skirt that makes it bigger than the Radius 38.

I picked the later Radius 38. a little while after you got yours.

Mines got a trivet, nah, nah nah nah nah, and its in mint condition. Boo hoo !

    Thanks all

    Ian

The Op.35 appears to be the silent sister of the Op.3 roarer burner stove. The tank dimensions, weight and fuel capacity are essentially the same.
We have a few Op.3 stoves in the Reference gallery but no No.35 yet.

    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.
