I have just acquired an optimus 8r and have got it lit but I am not sure about adjusting the flame. When I turn the key to the right the cleaning needle comes up and the other way the flame improves but how do i turn it off. With my 111t there is an off position. Is there something wrong with my stove and if so can anyone tell me how to fix it. Many thanks

The needle might be installed incorrectly. Open the jet (using the key) and turn the needle up. Remove the needle. Now turn the valve shut, put the needle back (facing the right direction) on and slowly turn the key, you will hear "clicks', count to 4 clicks. Now turn the key to shut the valve and to lower the needle. Reinstall the jet. Now light the stove and check again.

    Hello, Gary,

Tjin's directions are good, but I would add one small thing. After you have removed your needle, and have turned your spindle fully to the right to turn off the stove, when replacing the needle, hold it gently down against the teeth on the spindle when you turn the spindle counterclock-wise. Then, you will easily hear the 4 clicks about which Tjin has told you. I usually could 5 clicks, instead of 4, but that's just the way I do it.

One question, though. You mentioned that your cleaning needle came up when you turned your spindle to the right, and this should NOT happen. The cleaning needle should come up with you turn your spindle to the left, or counterclock-wise, not to the right. If it comes up when you turn to the right, you do have a problem. See how all this goes, and then let us know, OK? Good luck, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc Mark

Thanks for the advice which seems to have fixed the problem and now I have a great little stove. I was going to ask some further advice but then my wife called me for dinner, perhaps as well as fueling the stove fixed, it.

    Thanks again all
