    This Beast arrived from Norway a few days ago. Is my first Hiker + and I’m really enjoying it so far.

    Does anyone know if the brass tank version came before or after the steel one?

    @Nico

    My initial thought would be brass, steel, then brass again. Steel definitely would have been painted that lovely shade of green. I think all of my hikers have green handles as well. I like your combination better.

    No knowledge to contribute but I do think it is much nicer than the green paint.

    Re brass tank shown in OP. That is a later 111 ("Hiker+") tank with different fuel line & burner.
    Re later 111 tanks: brass, painted brass & painted steel and what might be applicable here...
    fwiw one might wonder if maybe paint was removed from the tank in OP ?

    That's what I suspected, that the green coating was removed. So this morning I unscrewed the fuel line from the burner to clean the small brass fuel filter and I noticed a bit of the green paint residue between the nut and fuel line. The tank must have been stripped and polished by the previous owner.

    Leave it to a Canadian to mention “Rush” as a subconscious slip!

    I would believe in same sequence. Brass was used for decades then they though to save some money in order to make more profit. 'Cheap and good' is not coming in same package and result was this: Hiker Silent brassification They they went back to brass.

    No, I don't believe people are stupid enough for not seeing that in an international forums, mistake happened. It was probably a joke. Lol.
    But thanks anyway.

    Yes, I tried to make a joke by referring to the famous Canadian classic rock band Rush….perhaps I’m showing my age!

    It looks like someone is selling a similar stove on Ebay for $500 Canadian. The only difference is I can see more green paint on the nut. How does stripping the paint from the tank double the value?

    It makes it "retro" which means "collectable", which everyone knows means lots more money. Using the words "retro" and "collectable" works the same, particularly if not spelled correctly.
