Finn provided some close-up pics of the burner via Bøe Wilhelm:

Bøe writes; "The elongated tube make preheating easier in arctic condition. The other effect compared to the normal Cobra-burner is the (dis)placement of the controlknob from left hand side to right hand side, which makes the burner body compatible with the chassis of the 111 (original) and 111T models."

    hi Ross
there was a picture of a "111d" posted by Magnus that he saw at Fogas on a trip there it seems to have that burner fitted or one very similar

green case half way down the page 111d you can see the extra/extended preheating tube wrapped around the burner base,no idea if it really is a 111d but that is what it was called in the post, and i notice this thread is titled 111c ? so thought it might be the same

Thanks Bill - maybe Bøe, Finn or others can comment - I don't know a lot about the later stuff.

    hi nick
i agree it may not be a 111d and it may not simmer for beans on diesel,
but it's certainly different to the other 111's including the "c".the other day no one thought you could run a 8r on paraffin but its been done with an additional heat sink to preheat the paraffin maybe optimus did the additinal plumbing on these burners to burn diesel better than the standard "c" for the same reason or maybe it is for better preheating in sub zero temperatures,me i don't really care why its different or what its designated letter is or isn't, all i know is i haven't got one   and because it's a different 111 it's one that Optimus made that i want

I am not familiar with the D version, but the Norwegian forces had lots of 111's. (Often in civilian colors)
The one pictured over may be a refurb, or put together by parts. Around year 2000 the forces had a modernizing project. Soldat 2000 (=Soldier 2000) where they had intentions of developing a special stove. Finn got some pallets with 111's from the forces auctions. He sold a lot them to other collectors for a reasonable price, but when the forces realized that they were not able to get any better solution, the bought back the rest, and I guess Finn earned something... :-)

Finn does still have some parts, and are helping out collectors all ower the world.
