Primus 51 - 1929

    Couple of days ago I saw this a Primus No51 dated 1929 haven't got round to cleaning it up yet......how far back does this type of stove go ?

    When did this design first come about.....?

    Hi Baz, I believe that the Primus 51 and 54 were introduced as "budget" stoves in the 1920s. This would have been at the time of the World-wide Great Depression and survival was the name of the game for all manufacturers.

    Primus also made a sister stove to the roarer burner Pr 51. This stove, called the Pr.50, had a steel tank, dull nickle plated.

    The silent burner Pr 54 had a sister called the Pr 53, again with a steel tank.

    I guess corrosion has taken its toll and I have never seen one of these steel tank versions.
