The year of my birth. (Please wait to reply till I have all my photos uploaded, thank you) I finally got around to taking some photos of one of the pair of 96's I got a while back. I cleaned it up, and replaced the usual parts acquired from The Fettle Box, thanks Ross. I did that a few months ago and set the stove aside. ***** I was 'punching brass' to make a tea pot warmer and needed to break for tea. After priming, the previously good pump leather wouldn't pump. I cooled it off and replaced the pump leather. That was the only item I didn't replace the last time I used it. I then primed and started the stove. Pictures do much better justice than my words, so here they are. There are holes in the spirit tin. I find it hard to acquire good spirit tins.

Great and complete little 96 Ken! Shame about the pinholes in the spirit tin. The paint is in such great shape! Think you'll line it or repair it somehow? Dig that mug too!
Spirit tin: I wouldn't know where to start to repair it. Any tips? Mug: A dear friend passed away in '06. When I went to the memorial, I bought the mug at the local potters shop. He was an Air Force veteran. When we scattered his ashes, a couple of vintage military planes flew over us at the beach. That was way too ironic. Ken in NC
I'm looking down the barrel of a repairing a nice spirit tin marred by a few pinholes myself, and found this great post from Mr. Optimus. Others have suggested covering the holes with masking tape and then lining it with a fuel-proof sealant like POR-15. I used it about 10 years ago for an automotive application, but am unsure as to how big of a hole it can seal. The holes in mine are located within the paint job where a torch would burn up the pretty finish, so when I finally get to that project, I'll likely try the POR-15 route. It only needs a little bit of sealant though, so I may wait until I have a few more to do. If I remember correctly, once you open the POR-15, you can't reuse it, and it's messy stuff to deal with. It's a permanent modification, and that's certainly something to consider, but I'd rather get the tin into usable condition than have a bit of swiss cheese advertising memorabilia. And the mug's a great way to remember your friend and share a cup of tea with him!
