    Suggestions please.
Fettled the stove, however I'm not happy with the flame pattern seems to be burning lob-sided.
I have tried a couple of new jets and flame spreader but no difference :-k
    Cheers Tim

Hi Tim, I've had this problem before with a couple of upright stoves too. I noticed that the top of the burner wasn't quite in line with the bottom and had been bent out of shape a little. I put mine in a vice and tapped them back into shape with a hard plastic mallet. The factory bent tubes on the 43 would present a little more difficult fix though. Maybe if you took the burner off and studied it while turning it, you could see if it was bent.

I have 2 Radius 43's and they both exhibit the same type of flame pattern as yours to some degree. I think that bending that burner was a difficult manufacturing process and that all the angles involved getting a kero burner to fit into that box were probably pretty difficult. I also wonder if the upward "wind" created under the shield is affected by the bent riser tubes. I would be willing to bet that the non-symmetry of the burner design has a role in the flame pattern too. Maybe try burning it with just the flame spreader and the shield off...see if the pattern is the same?

Tim, I've had a few stoves with this problem, always seems to be roarers, I suppose a silent burner has the ability to even out the problem within the two caps.

I too have spent time bending tubes, with limited success, trying to get the jet of vapour to centralise more on the bottom of the burner.

Usualy I can improve things a bit, but being fearful of fracturing a joint I stop bending when the flame pattern is good enough to live with.

If anyone knows of a better method, I'd love to hear of it.

I had a burner that was lop-sided and yes, it was not centered so finding a soft pine, I shaped it into a wedge and as said with a soft mallet I slowly tapped the wedge until all spaces between the tubes were even (thereby centering the nipple). Brass is soft enough but caution you not to rush things and it will bend and get centered. Make sure you have the burner gripped on to a vise securely. Hope that helps.

I have done this only once.

Sometimes, for whatever reason, I think that the nipple is not 'square'.

Chicken Thief posted on this recently, he made a tool for straightening them up. I don't have that facility, and would be a bit afeared of trying it.

Also you could check if the flame ring support is attached and straight.

Thank you all for the advice.
    The tubes are twisted.
I think I will not attempt to straighten things up in fear of mucking it up totally, the stove burns hot with a nice blue flame.
    Thanks again
