Yeah I got a couple me self Parra. You seem to missing the fuel pick up tube. A Biro inards will work with the ink taken out. Heat it up with a match and poke it in and it will conform to the hole it goes into. Start up with shellite just let a bit of fuel leak into the top bit of the nipple seat area and turn off valve. The resulting heat will flush out the fuel and sit in the bottom of the priming dish. If you allow the priming dish to fill you can get a too big of priming flame. Tip 2 place the hose up wind so as the flames etc don't lick the fuel hose and melt it. Tip 3 Make sure the gaskets are all good. Don't expect quick boil times or super low simmers. 7-8 min pre ltre about right. 3 ml a minute of fuel. Grat cooking stove as the flame hets up a nice large area of the frypan. Pretty quiet but not quite as say a 2 pint kero silent. Using kero is an art in itself and not a real lot of fun but it can be made to do it if the gods are kind to you. I use graphite packing for the underneath nipple plug and works great. Will burn petrol but eventually will need a clean out. Shellite etc no dramas at all. Simmer is considered high and personally I use a small tin lid for a simmer plate and forget about aganising myself with it. Metho is slow to boil and you will need a good windscreen to manage it in 10 - 12minutes unless you open the nipple. You will also need a restrictor. Gas will work O.k. with a restricotr also a lot better than with out. I have used mine extensively and I like it for fyr ups and a layback cup of tea/coffee. easy to keep going but the jets are near impossible to get so handle them with kit gloves. All in all I can't say I regret not having one or 2 of these but if you want instant boiling leave it at home and take a earsplitt'n loaden boomer. Barra

hi Bruce i was advised to email Doc Mark and ask him if he had a copy which he has very kindly sent me,so i am sorted nice one all the same for the offer,i have been reading up on them and they get a mixed reaction,what do you reckon to yours? all i know is they are meant to be very small and an arse to simmer on,but i have been looking at them for a while and this one was new and in England so decided to see if they are any good,if i don't like the look of it when it get's here i'll shelf it, still nice to have even if i don't use it Bill edit sorry i didn't see you had posted twice sounds like i might give it a go after all
looks like 8r with legs and hose. Is thread over cutted? on mine there was R 1/8 NPT I was playing with it in a such a way. In my opinion rubber hose was to hot to be safe. To my mind long metal adapter needed https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/8796
The 8R bnr is a useful sizefor applications where a 111-type bnr might be a bit OTT, like in a Tran 27, say. I had a connector made to join an 8R bnr to a Nova hose; This setup fit quite nicely in a Tran 27 with a simple bracket, and provided ample heat; It also worked well with an Enders silent bnr head fitted; My current line of thought is to mod the 8R/Enders bnr to run alcohol using an Omnifuel pump setup, which is better suited to use with alcohol.
Hello Dave Ian's pictures give you an idea of how to do it, though I cut off the threaded connection on the burner head and brazed on an old male end from a rubber connector pipe - seemed the safest way to do it at the time. The upper round leg/pan holder is a stainless steel sink drainer, and care is needed when cutting a hole in the bottom leg/pan holder if brazing/soldering the burner unit with priming pan - hope that helps Martin
Very nice setup of the Optimus 8R with a Enders Silent burner head mounted in a Trangia stove. I can imagine it has the same flame control precision as the Enders 9061 army stove and the same efficiency plus windproofness as the Trangia stove. I also think about such a setup. How is the clamp for installing in the Trangia windshield attached to the the 8R burner?
Do you see the "wings" that hold the burner inside the opening? There are several styles that will hold the burner in place. This one looks to be bent and drilled spring steel sheet metal.
