    @Nicola Francesco Elia .

    What a wonderful find, and what an outstanding fettle!! THIS, is perhaps my most favorite fettle here at CCS! I love the stove, the family history, and the fact that you got it running like brand new, and still left the "as found" patina! All bases covered, and a fantastic stove "uncovered"!! YAY!! Huge thanks for sharing this iconic, and wonderful happenstance with us. Just the sort of thing that we all love to see! Hearty congratulations, and very well done! God Bless!

    Mightily Impressed,
    Doc

    @igh371 ohhh yes I really like external NRVs (see auto Optimus 8). I replaced both spring and pip, the only thing to care about when screwing back the valve is to be certain that the spring stays in place, centrally on the pip… sometimes happens that it moves a little when screwing the valve cap back making the NRV to fail correctly sealing, but straight easy anyway.

    @Cajuncook1 and @Doc Mark many thanks for your kind words.

    Nicola

    Absolutely excellent work @Nicola Francesco Elia. I enjoyed following this thread with your progress. That dent from the hoe adds to its character and the story. If it weren't for the hoe, that stove would still be buried.

    This is also my new favorite restoration to date.

    This whole thread is reminiscent of the old US Timex watch commercials, where the watch is maybe strapped to a boat propeller, the boat runs, the watch is removed, and the announcer holds it to the camera and intones, “Yes, Timex watches take a licking and keep on ticking!”

    @Nicola Francesco Elia you should display it buried in a pot of soil.

    Hi @Nicola Francesco Elia . Amazing story! Great decision as to leaving it as is (I don't know if I would resist the temptation:)). And then there's that flame....
    Well done!

    @ArchMc that’s a good idea, thanks!

    @Knee thanks Stanislaw! Yes a surprisingly good flame, but the stove internally is perfect, just a corroded dress :)

    Doesn't this date coincide with the creation of this stove?
    If so, this one really amazing!
