Hi guys. This question was meant to be attached to the above pic.

I was given this Veritas mark I stove last year, minus its burner caps, but all sorted now. I have replaced all seals and pump cup washer etc.

I cannot see any date stampings on the stove anywhere apart from a "B" stamped in the riser stem.

The pump is of the non locking type and filler cap nor the bleed screw have "veritas" on them. Any idea of approximate date of manufacture??

    Cheers Simon

Looking in the stove reference gallery shows similar models to yours. Earlier ones (at least) have three numbers stamped in the side wall below the filler. There are examples like 256 and 458 which have been accepted as representing probably 2nd 1/4 of 1956 and 4th 1/4 of 1958. So double check yours for a 3 digit date code. If you have one then problem solved. If not, yours is likely to be from a later year than 1958.

It is my understanding that Falk Stadelman may not necessarily have manufactured stoves themselves, but had them made by others. We know that Samuel Heath and Sons made stoves that were branded as RM, Thermidor and Veritas and the tins for the collapsible one pinters shared the same graphics except for small details and colouring. If that is the case, then it could explain the change from embossed lettering on founts to waterslide transfers. As your is embossed, it is earlier rather than later. Earlier than what you may ask. You may indeed ask!
