This is not a pressure stove, but a combustion style stove so please excuse this post if you are not interested. I just received this today via a ebay buy it now sale. From what I gather this Eagle stove is no longer available, but it is pretty huge measuring in at 13"x8". For scale, you can see it next to my coleman cased 199. It was listed as new unused without the box for $15 for just minute or two when I decided to hit the "buy it now" button. It takes a D cell battery, so when I get one I will give it a shot with some sticks from my woods.
Wow! That's a really big zip stove. I didn't know that they ever made a zip stove that big. I've never tried a zip stove (wood fires are generally illegal in the places I frequent), but I've always been curious about zip stoves. The guys who like them really like them. They're supposed to be quite efficient. I wonder what a size large like that was intended for? Maybe base camp cooking? For use with pack trains? HJ
With the holes in the feet it appears designed to be pemanently mounted on a surface rather than carried / mobile?
G,,day pardon my ignorance, but for a wood burning stove , a battery, can someone please explain how these work. small fire , battery powered fan , i keep thinking .but i want to know. cheers kerry
The battery/fan is to push more are into the stove and direct the flames upward thereby utilizing the intense heat of the burning wood to give it a more constant flame. Ron

Good morning, The box that it was shipped in said the total weight was 14lbs, so I agree that it was intended to be used for base camp/car camping only. I wondered about the holes in the feet also and agree that if you had a big pot of water ontop the pot support, having the feet anchored down would be a big plus. This zz stove has a two speed fan (high and low) and off for just simmering , plus it also has a sliding damper right in front of the fan so I would imagine that you can regulate the heat pretty well. I have to admit ,that is the biggest Zip stove I have ever seen! My buddy had one on a trip and had the battery go dead. It produced a lot of heat from a couple of wood chips.Very sooty pan bottoms. Without the blower it was a lousy ash tray. Dan
Hello all, I know this forum is focused on the bigger zip style stove, but I have a question on the little stove beside it. You refer to it as a Coleman 199. Are you sure it's not a Optimus 199? I didn't know Coleman came out with this style of stove. Of course I did see a Coleman kerosene lantern styled like a older Optimus lantern, so it's possible.
@Got Dibbs I didn't mean to confuse. I don't know exactly what he meant, either. It looks like an Optimus 199 to me, but he described it as "...coleman cased 199...". That's why I linked him in to the discussion in my post. Cheers Tony
