I've always wanted an Enders stove of some sort, just because they are so different. I purchased this one looking forward to a nice evening of smelly carb cleaner, dirty hands and my wife rolling her eyes. I opened it up and examined the parts, did a little research and started right in. I wanted to test the stove to make sure it was worth a continued effort, so my time was spent on getting it up and running, cleaning will come later. After examining the pump I found some problems right away. The large O-ring was mangled and falling apart. The box included a bunch of new O-rings, a new leather, and another jet (well, new to me, but still old original parts, dirty, but good shape). I replaced the gasket on the fuel cap easy enough, but the pump tube was frozen in the tank. I've never owned an Enders before and didn't know exactly how it was made, so I did a little research here in the forums, understood it's configuration and GENTLY tried to pull the tube out. I filled the tank with carb cleaner and pressurized it, hoping some would leak out along the pump tube and help free it. After about an hour of trying to pull and twist it, I finally got it out with just a few nicks on the tube collar...what a mess! I cleaned it off with 3 grades of sandpaper and steel wool, serviced the NRV which was in pretty good shape (meaning it works), and examined the interior of the tank. Surprisingly the tank was pretty clean, but the wick is a nasty brown mess...but functional. I put it all together and ran out to the garage with it and crossed my fingers. I primed it and opened the valve...and it worked PERFECTLY on the first attempt! I was amazed at how quiet this little stove is! I shut it down after a few minutes with no problems. Now it's time to clean it up!
Congratulations mbechtel verry nice little stoves i whould like one of these in my small collection. And a good fettle will look forward to seeing it all cleaned up well done
Congrats, this is my favourite stove... I have 4 of them nope, in that pic is missing the supports that you can see folded in the second pic...
Nice fettle and nice stove. I wouldn't mess with the wick as long as it burns well. I replaced a wick on a 9065 and though it came out well it was a PIA if you know what I mean. Have fun with your enders. dday
Thanks guys, I'll take your advice and leave the wick alone since it seems to work just fine. The pot supports are not on the stove in the pic with the flame...but do work nicely! I cleaned it up, but I'm not going to be messing with repainting anything. I LOVE THIS THING! Matt
I found another one, a 263 and it's wonderful! I can't say enough about these stoves. I think I just found a favorite!
