Remember i said it may be correct in colour only that to my knowledge it was not correct. Having seen more than one stack of pamflits and guides for stoves it would not surprise me a bit if there wasen't a pink 4F out there somewhere. Mind you, unless it was Doc Mark, i'd be looking quite askanse at any bloke who was using one in the woods. There seems to be little in the way of colour he might not use.

    Hey, Lance,

I resemble that remark!!  ;) I DO have a pink stove, Mate, but it's a Coleman Picnic LP model. Pink as a babie's arse, it is, too!! Got it at a swap meet, in very good condition, with it's box, for $2, if I recall right. I've not fired it up, as this "bud"-type carts are as scares as unicorn teeth.... but, it's down in the Hobbit Hole, in a box..... somewhere.....

Stay safe out there on the road, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

    Hey Lance,

What's wrong with a pink stove out in the woods? At least you're not going to trip over it.

I bought a cammo tarp, pitched it in the woods, went to find some firewood and am still looking for the tarp twenty years later.

    Hello All. . . . .

Correct me if I am wrong (I am sure you will) but isn’t this forum for people to find out info on vintage Coleman items, as that was all I was doing when I joined and inquired, as there was NO info on the internet for the 4F.

Originally the thought had not even crossed my mind to sell the stove, but after talking with you all and being suggested to list it on ebay, as well as discussing it with the wife, we decided it deserved to be in a collection and NOT on a shelf in my garage, as we have a trailer for camping, and I could just not see us using it . . . . . It seems to me you Die Hard Collectors would be happy this fine stove was up for grabs . . . . .

It seems some of you are a little “pissy” that I am selling the stove ?? What is that all about ?? Nothing better to do ??
It was one of “youz guys” who suggested ebay as “the only / best Way” to find value on these old stoves. . . . And that gave me the idea to try it, and offer the stove to a collector who would give this fine stove a rightful home in their collection.

Furthermore, I am a collector / enthusiast of Coleman’s of sorts, as I also own about #5 vintage 200A lanterns, as they are the best lanterns made and far brighter then any two mantle stove, so don’t feel I was duping anyone as that simply is NOT the case, and I am certain I will be back to chat with you fellows in the future concerning Old Coleman’s, as I have been a coleman “enthusiast / collector / user for years, I run across them all the time in my travels. This one however as I said was handed down to me.

As for my inquiry as to value, is that not a common question anyone (laymen or collector) with a vintage coleman would have? My initial intrigue as originally stated was more the fact there was not any info on the stove online, and I thought that odd, so who better to talk with, but all you Coleman collectors / specialists, and I believe that is why the forum is in place, to help people educate themselves on these great old Coleman stoves and lanterns, so not sure why anyone would be “bothered” by that ?? Perhaps it is just my theory on people in general – quite simply - if it wasn’t for A-holes = Nice people would not stand out in a crowd, and with that there is always a couple in every crowd 

Well enough of my yammering, and I hope I have not offended anyone as that was not my intention

I would again like to thank you all again for your advice / information, and wish you all happy and prosperous lives collecting Coleman’s.

    Have a GREAT WEEK
    Spokane Dave

    Hi Dave
i haven't posted on this topic to date,if you read the forum rules it clearly states that we do not give valuations

    quote from forum rules below
    VALUATIONS – SITE POLICY

The purpose of this site is to act as a resource for collectors & users of vintage camp stoves.

As a strict policy we do not give valuations, the best way to assess the value is by offering it for sale by conventional channels or through an online auction site.

Forum posts which request valuations will have this policy posted in reply by the forum moderator, and it will then be locked.

This policy has had to be adopted because the value of an item is determined not only by age, condition and perceived rarity, but also by how many purchasers may be interested in it at that specific time.

Time spent in reviewing the sort of prices which similar items reach in an online auction site, may give you a guide to it’s value.

It is then your decision as to whether you sell it, and the method you choose, noting that it is always possible to seek a buyer via the For Sale section of the Trading Post on this site. (registration required & minimum post count of 10)

    Thank you for your co-operation.

if you ask me you where lucky the thread wasn't locked instantly

btw it's also not a Coleman collectors site though there are Coleman collectors on here

    regards Bill

It's understandable to question some responses when dealing with value of items on this forum; as with other forums I'm a part of (not stove forums), and talking about value of things is commonplace. You are new here, and this forum in particular is different in that respect. You see, in collectables like campstoves, lanterns and such, there is no such thing as always or never. Just doesn't happen, and this is the attitude possibly encompassed in opinions of value; along with variables such as presentation (color), physical attributes, etc. EVERYONE here I've EVER dealt with, and of all the posts I've read, is BY FAR the most respectful, helpful, and just plain nice group of people on a forum. And I go to plenty of forums with as varied as my hobbies are.

One thing you might wish to consider doing is looking into whether or not a forum has a FAQ. Explains many things about how things are run on each individual site. Like here for instance,

    ...from the FAQ
    http://

Valuations are not a service offered on this website

    Good luck with selling the stove, hope it fetches what you want and stick around, these people here are the best;
    period.

and if I wasn't so long winded, para wouldn't have beat me to it, hahahahahaha.

    Hello. .. . parramethtrol

I had NO intentions of violating any forum policies, nor do I feel I did, as the post progressed from a simple request for info on the stove, and in regards . . . the inquiry of value was more an inquiry as to where for me to look online for a idea of value, rather then the insinuation I was asking any specific person or persons to value the stove for me ?????

I do realize the forum, and it is a fabulous / informative forum, is not Coleman specific, and I only stated that as the topic at hand was about & for a Coleman stove.

I was simply using the forum as the resource I thought it was designed for, to attain information on old stoves . . . . As noted prior I was only searching for history on the stove and through it all it was suggested by one of the members it be put up for sale, and I decided and do feel it deserves to be in a collection considering it's age . rarity . and condition. Not collecting dust in my garage.

As I said I would think this would be a good thing for Coleman collectors as they all stated it was one of the nicest they had seen, and we all know condition is everything.

Also, being I am a newbie here, I was not aware of a for sale / trading post area, nor did anyone mention that, so thanks for the info.

    Have a GREAT WEEK

In the FAQ posted above, says after ten posts, you can post things for sale on the forum in appropriate area.

nope same membership but i think you need a minimum of ten posts, the policy for no valuations is for everyone regardless of number of posts so don't feel singled out

    hi Dave
one post you could make would be to upload your stove pics to the reference library so that everyone can benefit from your stove, there is a tutorial on how to do it,or i could pinch your ebay pics and do it, with your permission of course [-o<

    Hey . . . Parramenthrol

I think that is a great idea, as it will be an asset to the next guy looking for info on the same model / era stove, as I believe they would the only pictures of this stove in the library.

I will give it a shot, and if I have any trouble I will give you a holler.

I am going to post the auction link in auction watch as well.

  another couple of days and you will be cancelling the auction and keeping that stove as the start of your own collection  it's a slippery slope and you have a head start with that one,and it isn't going to depreciate like most things in life

Well While I will admit I would like to keep it, I do feel it deserves to be the highlight of a collection.

Also, FYI, another deciding factor for selling it is due to some unforeseen circumstances, the wife and I have recently fallen on bad economic times, so the sale of the stove will hopefully relieve some of our current financial burden and let me sleep a little better at night, not to mention it should make a die hard Coleman collector very happy as well so it will be best for all involved.

I went ahead and posted the 4F pictures to the reference gallery as you suggested . . . parramethtrol . . . let me know what you think.

Henry . . ."Oh I do like a punch up"

Not sure what you mean by that ??

If you meant my comment on my financial “issues” just thought that would further explain why I I decided to sell it, and foremost the reason is to assure it goes to a collector who will enjoy it instead of it withering away unappreciated and collecting dust.

Furthermore, FYI . . . .I am not the going off in a huff / having a hissy fit kinda guy, as my skin it just to thick in my older age.
That’s more the reaction you would expect of a young kid that doesn't want to hear what people have to say that differ from their opinion. Sad petty way to live ones life . . . .

Life is just to dam short to act like that :-)

    Have a Great Week
