I have an old Coleman 508 in good working condition but needs some cosmetic work. I am going to give it to one of my Scouts in the backpacking merit badge group who has shown a lot of spirit and interest, if he agrees to put a little elbow grease and steel wool into cleaning it up. I'd like to give him a copy of the manual, which I don't have. Anyone got one they could scan & post? I don't see the 508 in our Classic Camp Stoves library.
There are a couple of images of the 508A and 508B {admin: dead link removed} at the Old Town Coleman Centre. No instruction manual though - at least, none that I could find... :frown:
Do not have an instruction manual but I do have a link to the breakdown of parts/exploded view. {admin: dead link removed} If you need parts I would suggest patronizing Bob, he went through a lot of trouble posting all that info.
I wish I still had my manual for my 508A. Sadly all I have now is what is on the tank. But thats all one really needs. Do you have a two lever stove or one lever Here are two shots of the decals on the tank of my 508A single lever. Cheers, Jeff

I have the Model 508 with the two-lever arrangement, which I really like! This stove has, arguably, the best simmer of any stove I've ever owned! Perhaps the single lever model (508A) is equally good at simmering? Never used one. The 508 has similar decals for operation. But the manual had more information. Wish I knew what I'd done with it, 20-some years ago.
I agree (arguably as well) it has great simmering abilities. I don't see any orange flame on mine until I turn it off, or on start up of course. As much as I can remember the only difference between the two is one has separate lever for the cleaning needle. Where that is built into the one lever design. It would be interesting to compare the two. I remember reading this post a while back about another 508. One member (bark2much) said that the 508 is similar in design to the 400 and I would agree. Same burner and layout. In that same post he said he had a manual. I know that is a long shot. Maybe try contacting him and see if he can scan it into the database or make a copy. The second lever does operate the cleaning needle but that is not all. The red handle lever is just the on-off valve. It is not used to regulate flow. All the way open or all the way shut. The black handle level is used to regulate the fuel flow (or height of flame, depending on how you look at it.) At one end is the "Light/High" setting, at the other end is the "Clean" setting, and about 1/4 of the way between them is "Low." So it is pretty significant. Thanks for the link to a valuable discussion, but I can't find a manual for the 400 either. AAlso, it looks like a single-lever job in the photos.

Hi All I'm looking for the Instructions for the 508 stove too and can see that Cheng has kindly posted the images above but when I try to save them the quality is too poor to enlarge to be read. Are they saved somewhere else at a higher resolution? Many thanks, Paul
