The Great English Stove Shoot - The Results Show!

I have some work commitments come up for this evening so I ended up having to do this last night. Here's a selection of English Stoves:

Villiers Mar-Vil, Stesco Coil Burner, Xplorer Coil Burner (I realise now I forgot to take these out the cans ), Bialaddin M1950, Cookie Picnic (meths burner) Bukta Methex, Monitor Picnic, Monitori Touring (17b), Monitor Pocket (127), RM Picnic, Burmos No. 96, Thermidor Picnic, Cobra Picnic, Albion

British Military No.3 (underneath), on top of this are a Turley & Williams British Safety Stove and a British Military No. 7 (unfired). In the foreground are a British Military No. 2 and a British Military No.12. Continuing left to right: RM 320 Range, Buflam Nickel Collapsible, Buflam brass fixed legger, Thermidor Standard 200, Nomad.

I admit that the No.7, the Bialaddin M1950, and the Nomads are of mixed parentage. However, they all most definitely have British passports so I'm comfortable including them here!

As most of these are not regular users some of them predictably played silly beggers on the night, and one of them actually run out of fuel whilst I was lighting the rest of them

Past midnight brew up. I only got on the net for a quick look at 8.pm tonight.
R.M. 210 size stove. Plain Jane, no engraving or stickers or nothing but prefer it to a Primus 210.
Just seems nicer in the hand and user friendly feel about it all. To me anyway
Just sloshed a bit of kero it in and she still works fine after a year or two sitting around after I fettled it with help from the members here!!!



Think I got another English stove have to have a dig around.

I forgot it was today, but just by chance I was brewing up on my Monitor earlier. The big ex army sort, common admittedly but brilliant!



Oneself and one's Monitor, sadly it was quite windy so you can't see much of the stove I must go out later with another English stove!

your post reminded me i have two Monitors that i'd forgotten all about so that makes 4 English stoves i can spark later one of the monitors is still unfired as is one of the Nomads

 

Get them out, I like Monitors me! Prehaps it's the name, they sound as English as you can get! I've got a Burmos to fire up later, and a Buflam I'd forgotten about. Sadly I have no idea where it is

 

Great stuff Graham, here is my small contribution to the event

My small contribution to the St.George’s day English stove light up. It was also a chance to try out my new folding grill as a stove range, worked very well indeed.









As Graham said some stoves have mixed parents but are still English enough, as in this No12 and No7



The sausages are canned pork sausage in lard, available from your local B&M store for 39p a can. The sausage are not as good as fresh, but when cooked are not bad at all and eggs cooked in lard taste great. A good winter camp food, ideal with bannock bread or for extended summer trips when you have no refrigeration; I’ve now stocked up on them as part of my TEOTWAWKI preps stock

 

Wow, all great stoves and pictures, i didnt know there were so many different types of English stoves made. Richard, you are making me hungry!

What a great display Graham - making me look forward all the more to Newark!

I've been trying to snap a few this week in daylight but something always comes up & I get one done before I lose the light. And to top it off on St Georges day I was going to light one up but the alternator went on my car & I had to be relayed home from York so another late finish! Ironically an English car (Rover 75) that has done 136K in 4 years without a glitch until today!!

So I'll be working from home tomorrow so may get some more snapped at lunch & tomorrow evening. I'll also be continuing with the English 'paperwork' into next week.

After Graham's fantastic effort it took me a while to find one the few English stoves which he didn't show !

I also went for a touch of late night "atmosphere"

Burmos's 1 3/4 pint discus model the 51, boiling for a brew an Eve Ware kettle and illuminated by a couple of Bialaddin's ( 315 & 320 ) - all English !

Well this is the best i can manage I'm afraid can't light the Stesco as I need to make a replacement lead washer for the lid.
The Nomad is built in England so I guess it counts. The army No7 is in as others have included it.
The Monitor, well that's definitely English as is the Townson & Coxson.

 

I usually just brew up in the garden but today went to the local picnic site for a coffee and used :-

A Veritas I've used every day since I got it months ago. For some reason I've forgotten now, I haven't used an electric kettle at home since April 1st 2008


See, it was lit!


This is the extent of my 'kitchen' at the moment - which explains why I didn't have the time to mount a display to rival Graham's. Otherwise I would have, honest... There's a Monitor in shot as well as an RM. Also a Swedish interloper for which I heartily apologise...

And seeing as it's St. George's Day:-

What a brilliant selection, thank you all! The well-used Veritas really looks the part of a hard-working stove, and the Burmos and Bialaddins are great!

Coming in a bit late here, how about this for an "action" shot? I went for a bit of an evening stroll, and took the Burmos for tea and toast... refreshments- while the Burmos behaved well, the toast briefly caught fire, and while flapping it and trying not to get too badly burnt there was a little flare up, captured below.
