Phoebus 625 copy ??

Does anyone have experience/opinion about the Russian copies of the Phoebus 625 petrol stove.



Curious if its junk or gem ?

It should work. I have the clone of the 625 made by Phoenix Precise which I posted recently and it works fine. The Phoenix craftsmanship is less to be desired though but practical for purposes of camping. Was thinking of getting one of those babies if it were not for the cost unless its being sold locally just to see if it works similarly to the Phoenix clone.

Do these burn both Kerosene and white gas(Coleman fuel)

 

i had one (625 phoebus)that burned gasoline, which i never tried. i used coleman fuel and it worked great.

 

Hi. Got my russian clone off ebay today. Soon had it alight running on aspen 4t. Had a brew within a few mins. Great stove,runs well. You get spare jet and seals and a small funnel. If you cant read russian the instructions will be no good to. Mine got abused by the royal mail, but the cooking /storage pot took the pain and saved the stove. Well worth the money. Im tempted to buy a second one as a spare. Sorry about the picture quality. I will take some more of the stove in action if anyone is interested.

Hi Si. I cant see me getting a pass from the war department(wife) for the steam fair. But i will give it a go. I will get the camera out and get the stove fired up.

The russian clone in action. It only took about 4 mins to boil the kettle. Although im not a stovie i couldnt resist getting this.

Hi Graham. I didnt think of that. I only thing i run over it was a cloth to get the dust off. I then got it going and put the kettle on. It runs great on a drop of the aspen 4t.

Assuming it's the same thread I might also bung a kero jet from one of my Phoebus 625P's into it and try it on kero.

wow! hope your kidding about the geiger counter! Mine just came in and now the whole family thinks they're dying...

 

not familiar with 'aspen t'... is it coleman fuel? I started mine up on kero for about 5 min., but it burned orange. Switched to coleman, burned for 10 min.--- much better( but still orange).Pump seal seems shot,however.

Aspen 4T is similar to Coleman. Basically the same but a fraction of the price of Coleman in the UK.

Out of the box these Russain 625 copies won't run on kero - you'd need to change the jet. Tip here - I tried to do exactly that and found the brass used for the jet is extremely soft and immediately churned up when I tried to remove it. Eventually got it off after I'd had the stove running for a while, but in the end never then got the time to try it on a kero jet from a real 625p.

Curious about the Kero(paraffin) jet.

I have picked up one and would like to run it w/ kero as a silent burner.

Any idea what jet options are available?

Anyone try an Optimus M jet?

It comes with a spare. Thought about pounding it down till a kero pricker fits in.

Hi AR, well the original Phoebus can run on kerosesne by replacing the jet as the mil version of the 625 comes with it in the kit. Then again am not sure about the burner configuration of the russian clone. I read somewhere that if its got 4 tubes, it should work. I do have a clone made by Phoenix and you have given me something to think about as far as replacing the jets are concerned. Might be worthwhile looking into if I have the correct jet size I can borrow from one of my burners.
