111 & 8R Case Tray (and beer)

...Cans .
U.K 500ml beer/cider/lager cans are just the right size .
Using a sharp knife cut the ends off the can .
With scissors cut the tube down its length .
With scissors trim up the knife cut ends .
With scissors cut the corners off the rectangle .
Lay the springy rectangle flat & score diagonal lines with a straightedge & the back of a knife .
Fit & trim in 111 case .
If you've fitted & trimmed correctly the pan supports should keep the liner in place.


















Be careful .. The cut ally edges are sharp !!! If in doubt ask for help from a responsible adult

Drink yer beers .. spread the cans to flat sheets ...bend fold fiddle and fettle yerself a windshield .....have a beer to keep on the job.....or to add another shield panel .

Necro-posting a bit (!), but I've found that cans of Monster (the energy drink) are great for this as the edges don't appear to be as sharp once cut - I think they're made of a slightly thicker aluminium than beer cans.

 

Or the energy drink gives a different view to the viewer than a beer (or two) gives to the viewer.

 

Do/Would you stick this down or does it just sit in place?

I've been "planning" to make some of these aluminum can liners for several of my stoves, for many years, but have never remembered to do it! Neat seeing this great idea in action, once more, though, and (hopefully) I will finally get a few made...... one of these years!!
