I am so happy that I have my own computer.. I can do whatever i want on it (unless it freezes up for me) . I can buy things, look at things and so on.. And then it started.. Da madness!! On the first day I bought an old stove (Optimus 43), and I saw that it was good.. On the second day, I saw another stove.. And bought that one too.. A multifuel modern thingie with a green bottle on an umbilical.. And I saw that that was good.. On the third day... I saw another.. A Optimus 111 Hiker, multifuel, and of course I bought it.. And I saw that that was good too.. On the fourth day, look and behold, I bought a kerosenelamp instead.. An Optimus of course, and in Brass.. I saw that that was very good too.. Well, the fifth day came, and I saw another..........stove.. An old Radius 21, with some polishwork to be done, and some gaskets to fix and so.. Naturally I bought it!! And of course I saw that that was good. Now I am nervous about the sixth day.. What will it bring? A straightjacket or something fuelrelated? :o I must go down to part time at work I guess, to have the time to fully enjoy the bliss of cooking, frying and reading in the power of liquid fuels.. 8) Rdgs Uffe
Many people around the world have the Swine Flu, but you have caught the Stove Flu. Unfortunately, there is no cure! You could contact 'Stoves Annonymous' but it will be to no avail. You will find yourself thinking, "Just one more stove and I will stop." But you will be deluding yourself. Better not to fight it but join the huge throng of crazed people here on CCS. They will not cure you, but will help ease your anxieties and maybe turn your adiction into an enjoyable experience.

Thank you shagratork for the compassionate words, I am so happy that I have found this site!! Lots of fine things to watch, and fine tips and tricks. The rest of my family (with the exemption of my brother) is completely unaware of my kerosene inclination since I haven´t come out of the "tent" yet.. Alas, it will have some negative effects regarding inheritances and so on. But I will get my revenge, when the power lines comes down.. I will be feasting on hot food.. Rgds Uffe
Welcome to the site Uffe. You're in a world of trouble! You live is Sweden so plenty to find that will tempt you & most worrying of all - looks like you are hoping for power cuts just so you have a major justification to get out your stoves & lamps. As Shag said - there is no cure!

...and seeing to cook by as well! I had a power cut a couple of weeks ago, but for only one hour - still, it's the best they've managed for years - something or other about a commitment to restore power as soon as possible - bah!
Oh, it´s good to feel that You are not alone in the world. I just had a spell of withdrawal symptoms, so I just HAD to go out on the balkony and brew me a nice cup of coffee.. Hello, Uffe, As the "Resident Doc", here at CCS, I must concur with the medical opinions that have already been offered: There is no known cure for the "Stove Pox"!! Best course of action, is to surround yourself with as many stoves, and yes, lanterns and lamps, as you can possibly find, then fettle them all into life!! It's rather like you are "giving back" something to stoves and lantern/lamps in need, and thereby, you feel better! I don't know - the organisers are members I believe & it has been posted in past years. I certainly don't actively seek out entries for the events page - it's there to be posted too. It's a recent addition to BBL - after I pointed out their 'Happenings' referred to a previous event.

That was a good one! So many models, and so many years of manufacture.. I guess that I could be content with that.. The hard part is to hide them for the rest of the family. Maybe I should hire a storage somewhere? There are some other countrys that also make nice thingies, so, better rent a warehouse (or two) Rgds Uffe

Into a sturdy box, pack up all your stoves, lanterns, lamps, and other traceable items related to this sickness. 2. Contact me by PM for my mailing address 3. Ship to me, by the most expensive method currantly avaiable to you, all these packaged goods. 4. Go to church and pray they arrive in the same condition as they were shipped. 5. Continue to search the W.W.W. for more of the same types of goodies to be sent to me at your expense. 6. Within 5 or 6 years you will be completly cured. Hello again, friends in the asylum Today i was away on a little trip, collected the Radius no 21. It was old, and not polished in about 30 years.. The Guy i bought it from has really got the flu.. Imagine a flat with 3 rooms, completely filled with burners.. (dreaming) I took it home, assembled it, took out the pump and anointed the leather. Preheated, and when the alcohol was almost gone, closed the airvent, and pumped about 4 to 5 strokes. It is alive! Another cup of Joe was very swiftly organised and brewed. I think that I will keep this one < as is > because it has the patina and grime of a long well spent life, and as a clever guy said.. If it is not broken, why fix it? Well I will give it a new pumpleather, since that is a bit worn.. And I will keep them all, and get more of them.. Because I know that how many stoves I get, there is always someone that has more flu than me!! Now I await the arrival of more bits and bobs to test..
