Sometime last week I ordered a MIDI pump from A&H ENTERPRISES as was specified in their website. Today, I received the pump and it was a MINI pump and I immediately called the number in their website. The male who answered mentioned that he can not check my order as he was out of town. I just mentioned that I ordered a MIDI pump and got a MINI pump. He says that they are the only ones who have this part and is not longer in production and that if I was not satisfied with the product, I could return it back. He was a tad annoyed by my call. What crappy service and definitely FALSE ADVERTISING.

I am not satisfied with their service and advertising though I needed a pump so I will keep it. So those expecting to order a MIDI pump, you will be receiving instead a MINI pump.

Let me know if you do get a MIDI pump so I can really compain of such shoddy or shady service.

    Hi Chaps

Now, i am sure there is a thread somewhere on this site covering the two pumps.. pictures and all. If memory serves there is no difference.

A&H is a Mom and Pop outfit, doing this as a labor of love, and the ONLY stove repair/parts place in the USA...
The two pumps are functionally the same, They haven't been made for quite some time, and are becoming rare. I think you should be glad to get either, especially NIB....
I just don't understand the fuss...

Its not much of a fuzz but I was expecting the bent one as the end of the pump was much farther away from the burner. Both have the same function but I would say I was expecting the bent one though. How would you like to receive a stove that is a roarer when you ordered a silent burner. I would say that they are both functional is it not?

Yes am glad to keep it. Though the disappointment of receiving a mini yet paid for a MIDI.

Hey Ron, since we live fairly close to each other, I'll send you a midi pump and cap(new in package) if that's what you want. Let me know if you purchased both pump and cap from A&H, or just the pump.
    Sincerely,
    Jim Walter

Thanks Kerophile. Looking at both and the labeling I would understand. I mean a bit of courtesy on the part perhaps of the company (whether mom or pops business) to notify me that the MIDI is no longer available and if I would like to receive a mini or straight pump instead. And I would have gladly said yes just send it. Finding out only when you get it that its the straight pump rather than you expected the item to be the straight pump are two different things.

Anyway, I will just keep it

    Thanks

    Hey, Ron,

I understand your angst over the mix-up on the pumps. I have both Mini and Midi pumps and like both styles, quite a bit. But, I must tell you that Bob and Shirlene, who own A&H, are good friends of mine, and despite having been raked over the coals by some who should have known better, they continue to do the very best that they can do to serve those of us who love our stoves! Please remember that Optimus really tried to KILL OFF most of the small dealerships in the recent past, including A&H, by raising their minimum buy numbers to the point of being ridiculous! Only the "Big Boys" could keep up with those sorts of shinanigans, and so A&H lost the ability to buy directly from Optimus! To my way of thinking, Optimus helped to screw us all, through their cheese-paring of the smaller dealers. A&H have even tried to find good local machinists who could make the parts we all want and need. But, so far, their success has not been 100%. Some of the Old Timers amongst us, have know Bob and Shirlene, and have done business with them for longer than some others of us here at CCS have been alive!! ;) 8) During all those years, they have done their very best to help us out, despite the fact that their business is just the two of them! No fancy stuff, no store, no staff: just Bob and Shirlene, who love stoves just as much as do the rest of us!!

I can honestly tell you that, once in a great while, I might get a part that I didn't order, or have some other small thing go odd with my orders. But, you know what? That has never bothered me. I just cache the items in question, and 100% of the time, I find myself needing them for some future project. So, no harm done, as far as I'm concerned.

But, other than to offer a strong recommendation for A&H, that's about all I can do here at CCS. I've made my thoughts very clear on this, more than enough times, and some are probably tired of hearing them. But, I stand for those that have stood for me, and Bob and Shirlene are two of the biggest supporters of stoves, parts, and other such goodies, that you will ever find in these United States, BAR NONE.

Again, I'm sorry that you didn't get the pump you actually ordered. But, having given more than a few of these away to needy friends, over my years at CCS, I wouldn't mind finding a few Mini pumps to add back into my stove cache! ;) ;) Take care, my Friend, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

    I have both, they do the same job, and I don't keep the pump attached when the stove is lit, pump the tank, remove pump, prime and light the stove so it don't matter how long or short the pump is.;

Ron, I just read my post and it was obviously not very clear. If you want an angled midi pump, I'll trade you for your mini pump. I have a couple midi pumps and caps new in packages.

Weren't mini & midi just 2 terms for what was the same angled pump? Maybe called midi later to distinguish from the earlier model??

    An angled 'mini'
    https://classiccampstoves.com/fusion/gallery/15/1222206896-optimus_adventure_03.jpg

I know the old straight pump was always the 'Mini'. I know from my dealing with them that A&H have not had them since at least July 2008 probably earlier. Only the 'Midi' is shown on their website.

Was the angle to allow it to be used with the 123R & 1000 without removing the windshield?

Many customers are like Mark & happy to accept the odd problem with an order as they know the owners or the nature of their business but the two complaints I've seen raised on CCS have been prompted by the post-sales attitude on the phone. This is the time when a dissatisfied customer can have their problem managed to their satisfaction or magnified out of proportion to the original issue. I know for my part if I'd rang & mentioned I'd got the wrong part (even if I'd be willing to settle for it if there was no alternative) & the dealer got knarky with me, the reaction would not be positive.

Hey Jim (Abman) thanks for the offer. I am happy to keep the "mini" pump despite it was not what I expected to receive. I mean no harm but the least should have notified me prior to shipping that they did not have the midi pump, I would have gladly accepted the mini pump had they called me and let me know ahead rather than being surprised.

Doc, thanks for the explanation and I do know it is difficult to obtain such items hence I will be keeping it. I wish though they would change the catalog description to "mini pump" so that there would not be any mis understanding which on the part of the gentleman I spoke to said he will address the issue (internet description) as of course some would prefer the midi over the mini. I work in a retail company and I know sometimes a mistake in labeling or pricing for an item will solicit complaints to the expense of the company. For a small operation, such may be detrimental to its sales. For a big company they probably can absorb such, hence they should address the labeling issue on their catalog.

Anyway, thanks again for a very knowledgeable explanation.

So lets close the subject and hope that the issue on their internet catalog is remedied. Alls well! ;)

    Evening, Ron,

Still munching my dinner, but wanted to get back to you. You are a good man, Sir, and I appreciate your even-handed response about all this. I know how hard it is to be expecting something, and something else shows up. Were A&H my own business, I'd do my very best to make sure that everything was as it should be, and if a substitution had to be made, to inform my clients about that. In fact, I do that very thing in our own small business, and it works very well, indeed.

In any case, A&H is not my business, so I have no say in how things go there, nor should I. Again, I do appreciate your comments, Ron, and thank you for being so kind in making them. Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

    Doc, thanks again.

Kerophile, my apologies for the intemperate header and I realize that it was inapropriate.

    hi Ron
i have both types and there's not a lot of difference in them, but if i could only have one it would be the mini pump as it will pack easily in just about any stove case it will fit in a svea 123/123r and the ikle cup will fit over the top 8) enjoy it and think your self lucky you didn't have to pay the stupid money they fetch on ebay ;)
