Hi, found a Il-O-Van cook set a flee market yesterday. The Ilovan factory (Norway) started in 1922 and ended in 1968.IL=fire, O= and, VAN= Vater To make good food you need fire & water. I am looking forward to clean & polish this cook set.
Thanks, you mention a good reason for me to get a Norwegian stove, so far I only have Swedish and Danish stoves.
and different sort of bales on the tea pot, almost looks like it was made to be hung on a stick over a ---fire ---
Dave, you are right, both the tea pot and the kettle have the bales made for stick usage over open fire.
Hey guys I bought this kettle for 20kon in a little second hand book shop in Bø I Telemark when I was a student there in 2014. I used it on a few trips in the Norwegian mountain and still use in now back in the UK. Never seen another one like it. Can you tell me anything else about them? Much appreciated Ed
That kettle is very old but slightly newer than the kit above - I think all of it is made before the move from Oslo, probably in the 30's or maybe 40's. Fuhrmeister should mate with Triangel as both were made in Bergen(norwegian westland) - Høvik is right for Ilovan as both were made in the Oslo valley(eastland) - norwegians tend to be aware of that geography.
