Hello all. Well i have just re built my Turm sport, after a visit to the "lanevitt paint department". I felt the brassy bits on the stove would go with a better colour than the bronze effect from the factory. So a nice fire engine red was my choice, Here are some pictures, lets see what you think

Hi and thank you all for your posative replies. To be honest i am not that happy with the paint finnish. I will give it another coat and another bake in the "dishwasher oven". The tea test wiil have to wait for a better day outside, Today is wet cold and miserable. It was a fun fettle to do. Now its done i can move on to my Juwel 33u stove.

Hi Andrew Red was a great idea! Here is my turm sport which has just joined the red turm club. This stove came as a pair, I got one and another member of this site is fettling the other. It had pin holes in the tank so I built it up with epoxy and sealed the tank with tank liner, Thanks Canza! I brush pained the stove, just to see how it would look. The finish is not as nice a spray paint but I will keep practicing as I did enjoy doing it. The fettle is not complete as it has a leak under the burner (rust holes). You can see flames at the base of the burner in the 3rd photo. I will be on the look out for some metal in the correct shape to fix this. The flame at the base can leap to the generator outlet and but the burner out. I cracked the generator tube getting the old wick out, there was no wire in there. You can see the braise above the burner. This was a really enjoyable stove to work on. Now I just need to find a turm touring stove. Yay for red stoves! Dan
Nice one dan, It tidyed up well. My cap under the burner is not good either, my touring one is rotten and my sport one is not to flash either, i was going to try some gasket paper, that might be enough to plug the leaks.
The red does look great on both stoves, and since they needed repainting, Why not? Fire Engine Red! Why Fire Engines are Red; Fire engines are red because newspapers are read too and two plus two is four and four times three is twelve and twelve inches is a ruler and a ruler was Queen Mary and Queen Mary was a ship that sailed the seven seas and in the seven seas are fish and fish have fins and the Fins fought the Russians and the Russians are red and Fire Engines Are Always Rushin' Around... so... THAT'S WHY FIRE ENGINES ARE RED! I know, expedite coat and hat...
Nice one Dan It looks good. If you dont like the hand finnished look of hand painting, you could always t cut (polish) out any brush marks. Spraying the casing was a pig. too thin on one part, too much on another, all the corners and blind spots...it took several goes, rubbing down each layer... If i had another i would paint it in a rich blue.
Hello, Painting those cases can get a bit tricky. Your best bet is to just spray a bit and let it dry. If you try and cover it all at once you risk a dreaded run ! Chuck
