    Hi

I have been after a Optimus 45 for a long time, but have had no luck. Either they have been too expensive or the seller would not ship to Norway.

A few weeks ago a 45 was for sale on Ebay. I contacted the seller and he would ship to Norway if I won. I did and yesterday it arrived. The tin is quite allright and so are the stove. Everything was there: Stove, windshield, prickers, legs and even a few spare packings. In addition there were two small bottles for meths.
I have already fired it and it burns quite nice. It is a roarer and is not used much. I will try to take some photos later.

    Regards

    Jens

    Hi Jens,
Congrats on the score as the optimus 45 is a great stove and I'll bet you will learn to appreciate its abilities. I also looked for one for awhile and finally found one minus the flame ring, but was able to get one from a generous CCS member. Can't wait to see the pics of it in action. Have fun!

    Hi

Thanks for the nice comments. :) I do not know why I wanted the 45 so much. The stove is not shiny, but has a certain patina of age. No dents as I can see so far. No soldering or repairs. The windshield is a little rusty, but I can live with that. :p
So a question. Was the 45 used for some arctic expeditions? I think I read it somewhere, but now i do not remember.

    Regards

    Jens

    Hi Jens

I think that rik_uk3 has posted that Optimus 45s are still used by the British Antarctic Survey.

Probably because they're reliable, powerful and easy to fix if they do break down.

    Cheers

    Hello Jens,

Do NOT polish that 45 - or not before we see those pics!
Polishing could devaluate as it might turn into a 44!
