Hi friends, I have the pleasure of completely renewing a well used old version british MK2 stove. It is rusty, dirty but complete -great! Stove is back to work and works like a charm. Powerful stove indeed. My question is which paint I need to look for to paint this vintage item in the original color. (I recently did a Hurlock stove in Ral6005 which is nice but not matching the original) I have seen british army colors shown and offered here http://www.militärlacke.de/lack/spraydosen/britishseries/index.php (german page but the colors and codes are all shown) I think it is BS 224 color but before ordering wanted to get your advise. Hi mike i am 95%sure you have picked the right colour looking at the link but i never knew that was the name ( deep bronze green)but i whould wait till another member can be 100% certain of it but that whould be a good colour for the stove
Looks to be the same colour as my No.3 .... am guessing at it being the same(ish) vintage as your No.2 .
Hi guys, Any more comments on this before I go ahead and by the "deep bronze green" color? I still need to strip the color off the case and remove any rust before starting the paintjob. The stove itself as shown in the pics works just fine cheers Mike
Hi Mike, it looks right to me. I have a pre 1970's of that colour and a few from the 1970's in the BS 285 Nato Green. Go for it.
Hi friends, Finally I was able to complete the job. Took a while to order the color, remove rust, do the paintjob -pretty cold in my gardenhouse now... I attach a few pictures. The color matches perfectly when comparing to remanants of the original color. I just took the freedom to paint the heatshield and the burner in black (heat resistant black color). The stove indeed works very nicely, is 100 % complete with all spares, spanners etc. The jet is quite large, I assume this could give around 3 KW heat output. Enjoy my friends cheers Mike
