Hi, my good friend Sefa has recently replicated two of the windshield designs used for Optimus and Primus No.96 stoves. He then sent them to me, all the way from Turkey to the Far North of Scotland.

Here are some photos showing examples of the originals and the new replicas (Clue: the new ones are shiny) :) :) :

As you can see the new windshields look really good and work great. The design looks simple but this is deceptive. Each successive panel is slightly broader than its neigbour so the panels "nest" together when the windshield is folded, making for a compact assembly. It is obvious that a lot of thought and work went into the manufacture of these parts

I am very grateful to Sefa, a true stove-gentleman!

    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

Well done Sefa! They look good. When I gave this a go recently I completely missed the fact that the panels are not all the same size.

Kero, would you please post a picture of the 3 sided one with a ruler beside it so I can try to make one of those? It seems like the kind of thing that will get easier with practice.

Hi, here as requested are some additional photos of the 3-part windshield. The graph paper on which it is seated is centimetre/mm squared:

    No.96.-Three-part-WS-1.jpg

    No.96.-Three-part-WS-2.jpg

    No.96.-Three-part-WS-3.jpg

I had taken measurements some time ago:

    I reckon the hinge-pins are 80mm long.
The individual panels are about 67mm high.
The width of the three panels(including hinges) are approx 85, 88, and 90 mm respectively.

The tin-plate is about 0.5mm (20 thou) thick.
    The hinge-pins are 1.5mm (60 thou) diameter.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

    Hey All,

Upon George's request I had these windshields to be made by a friend, ie not me. And above shields are hand made and uniqe, nobody else have got them. I don't either.

Will that be enough windshield pics, or do I need to deploy the camera?
