The Hipolito stoves were first imported into the UK in 1972 so if the stove is bought in the UK it is unlikely to have been made much before 1972. The stove had a tank shaped like a Primus 210 but used fittings like Optimus 00 fittings and the parts of both makes are interchangeable. The stove was unusual in that it had a top plate. This top plate was intended for use with small pans but many users seemed to always use it with the result that the plate becomes very badly distorted This stove had its legs missing when I got it which is probably why it had never been lit. The legs on the stove were made by me so please do not take those as typical Regards Bryan
I believe the 1972 date relates to when Meyer became the UK distributor for Hipolito after they dropped the Svea brand. The No:0 & 2 were available at least as early as 1968 in the UK. They are listed in a 1968 Belstaff catalogue.
Hi Ross You really had me puzzled there. I wondered what Belstaff motorcycle clothing had to do with stoves. I then remembered Belstaff Union brand but I thought that was a brand of tent. I presume that Belstaff produced a catalogue of camping equipment as well as tents Regards Bryan
