hi all i've been after an opti 96 for a while but something else always pops up in my sights so haven't got one till now, got this one a few minutes ago on Bin not cheap by my usual standards but if you have waited long enough a good priced one will do (no doubt a bargain will pop up now i have one ) any one care to hazard a guess at an approx age she looks to be very well cared for and not used much going by the condition of the potstands (or have they been painted silver) i did look in the ref gal but the 96k's were in different boxes to this one
Really Nice Stove!!!! Looks like the 3rd version of the Optimus 96. So 1952 to 1962 Bryan has a post in the Optimus 96 ref gallery you should check out. Cheers, Jeff
cheers chaps Jeff nice one they all looked the same to me until i noticed the end of the pump rod your right it looks like No3 it has the instructions so i might get lucky with a date on them fingers crossed it's a 61 vintage, good year that one
Oh, that was shiny one, Bill.. Really nice. Now I have to put a lot of elbow grease in action here.. I just bought a Opti-96 on our local "bay of evil".. About two hours ago.. (the temptation was too big.. ) And for only for the ransom of a very small kingdom.. Best regards Uffe
mine might be shinier but no tin, windshield, (lucky i bought one a while back)priming bottle or prickers but not to worry i have a cunning plan for this one nice stove Uffe looks like tonight was the night for 96's glad i won't need to polish this one as i still haven't got around to buying a bench polisher why do i want one of those, when i need a stove polisher atb Bill
Parra, Congratz on the new 1/2 pt. I've got an English cousin 17B myself. As for a tin, someone recommended a Czech mess kit for theirs. Czech mess kit Andy p.s. does this mean that you won't need the cycling kit anymore?
well i thought about it and ended up of the opinion the cyclists outfit should be kept/conserved as is, so my cunning plan was to put a repo set together with a newer 96 that wouldn't matter quite so much if it got a ding or two in use this one wasn't to expensive and i have the same brass windshield as the cyclist set has going spare and i've picked up a couple of stainless hip flasks 1oz for meths and 5oz for paraffin so it should be ok for a weekender and days out on the bike, i did just bid on Bryans 96/7 damper to go with the cyclists kit as i thought it would compliment it well but got my arse kicked, i waited till the final seconds but it had just gone past my max by the time i pressed the button to place my bid but i have a BernieDawg Md cap so the repo is sorted but it still would of been nice to have a genuine one
*Hihi* I was also looking at that Damper.. Would have been nice to have an original.. But alas, to expensive for me.. Well, maybe there will be a "dampernight" in the future? Rgds Uffe
