I bought this lovely little stove a few weeks ago but, other than ask about the unusual pump leather clamp Link haven't shown it to you all.

I've changes washers and waxed the (faded) tin but that's all - I haven't lit it and don't think I will as I'm not sure it's ever been lit.

It's pictured next to a Primus 96 for scale.

    Cheers,
    John

John, that's a beauty, Svea did make lovely stoves.

There seems to be a bit of a 'tide mark' around the spirit cup, so it maybe it has been lit before.

I would go ahead and light it, enjoy the flame and heat, just my opinion.

    Go on...........

Looking at it again I think you may well be right but, if it has been used, it's been very well cleaned. Even so I'm still loath to light is as the burner had developed such a nice patina. We'll see :)

    Beautiful stove John,
I've not seen that tin before. I like the engraving on the flame spreader too. I'd be loathe to light it too!

The paint is faded and in areas shaded from light it's revealed to be more red than orange. It's not in the best condition but has fortunately done its job of protecting the stove. I could post more pictures of the tin showing the back if required.

Yes that engraving is so crisp it's obviously never been polished and one of the main reasons I thought the stove had remained unlit.

    Cheers,
    John
