Just got my third Svea (my second 123) for $26.51. Very tarnished and without cup or key, but I had an extra cup anyway. Came with (2) caps, too. Used a lightly abrasive wheel on an AC motor (that was the only way I could get the darkest black spots out). After that, some Brasso, a Dremel polishing wheel on the tough-to-reach spots, then some Nu Finish "once a year" car polish. The one thing I found odd with this one is that when the windscreen is twisted on propertly the access hole does not align to the spindle - no big deal, though.

Wim, those are nice stoves  . Nice clean up on the screen and tank. If you have time to disassemble the who thing, just let it sit in citric acid solution or vinegar and you can scrape of the rest of the gunk with wire wool or something similar.

    Best regards

    very nice!

alas, i'll never 'win an auction,' and i don't use eBay or PayPal...

but i'm glad you found a nice 123 at a good price!

now where's the pic of it in action?

normally to line up properly the burner stem is screwed on so that the valve lines up roughtly over the "1" part of the "123" engraving :)

great deal on the 123! enjoy !

I was able to rotate the stem clockwise a little bit (with some degree of careful force) to the same position as my other 123. It now lines up fine with the opening.

I also popped out the circular brass piece and got that cleaned up, along with most of the heavy tarnish on the inside of the windscreen. I fired it up a few hours ago for the first time. Nice symmetrical flame - no apparent problems. Will post an 'action' pic later. I like the old 123's.

Finished product - again with the 'before' photo for comparison. Ordered a couple of old style keys/chains from BaseCampUK so I should be set. Still can't find any old style prickers, though; but so far I've never actually needed one. The last one I saw on eBay was sold with a key/chain for $32. I'd much rather take the $ and buy another stove.

Hi, It is possible I am wrong..... but I believe thet the prickers which Parafinalia sells in the pressure stove section are intended for jets with a 0.32mm aperture. They are too big for the 0.23mm aperture of a 123, No.8. no.96 or No.100 stove.

    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

    hi Tim
nope  been out on the bike getting a few miles in but i did it wearing jeans instead of cycling shorts so ended up getting more than a little chaffed and saddle sore  :-& so i'm having a day or two off till i heal :-&
you might look a bit of a idiot in lycra shorts but cyclists wear them for good reason
i got home the other night jumped into a hot bath and dearly went through the ceiling
the vans of the road at the min so haven't had the fun of the sorting office and Rons parcel
