Hello all. I received the question of this OPTEMAS 100 from the friend in South Korea. The country of manufacture is not understood though it is thought that it is a copy of OPTIMUS No.100. There is a stamp of MADE AS SWEDEN in the burner plate. There is a character of KAUSAR in the tank and the air release valve. Please teach if you know the country of manufacture of this stove. Regards Motoshi
Motoshi, obviously a very sloppy copy of the Optimus 100 and to get away with the copyright so it was named Optemas and "made as Sweden". I have worked on such before and not surprising something of sort would appear. As to who manufactured it the name is not familiar. Someone may comment in a while. Ron
Ohio Gozimasta Motoshisan . Nice pics. of Lovely stove ( Of course it is .. Its a 'Discus':-)) I'd suggest that the manufacturers ( Could it be a Taiwan or Korean maker ?) have done a good job there ,,,, look at the flame plate .. A nice casting , concave/convex & with well defined cast lettering in the concave ... this being harder to achieve than the relatively simple flat plates common to lipstick/basket burner stoves . The detailing around the filler/vent would suggest that its not 'sloppily' made. The air release , I think is non original .. I've seen the same 'original':-) marking on air release screws in India . Lovely stove .. I'd be happy to find one . Nick
Hi Ron. I think that it only has to understand something of this stove even a little. Regards Motoshi
Hi Nick. I think that the burner plate of the casting is good. However, some three feet of the tank have bad balance. Are characters of KAUSAR that exists in the tank and the air release valve names of the producing company?Or, is it person's name? Regards Motoshi
just as a wild guess i would say it's some sort of East Block 50's clone.the Kausar stamp has that look to it,but the "made as Sweden" part is confusing,it looks like they are saying it's just as good as the real thing. edit..i just had a look at Kausar in Google and it's all Middle East references as the writing to the right to the imprint is,so i would start thinking about that area for a maker.
The burner plate may not be original to the stove. It also appears to have Arabic script on the tank. Is that the case? Perhaps some of the members on here can translate that. Best, Bob
I would guess India. "Original" is used on other Indian stoves (Brand name?), as Nick points out, and I think "Kausar" is an Indian name. In any case, nice stove. edit: I see Dave found that "Kausar" may be middle eastern, so India may be out. or maybe not http://www.indiamart.com/company/364151/
It sure looks a lot like all the brassware that comes out of India and Pakistan...especially when you look at the graphics.
Konichiwa, Motoshi-san, ogenki deska? Interesting. This stove looks like someone tried to copy an Optimus as closely as possible. Even the logo, although it says "Kausar" looks a lot like an Optimus logo. If you were out shopping for stoves and weren't very familiar with stoves, perhaps an Optemas would look close enough to an Optimus that you would buy it. I think that's what the manufacturer of this stove is trying to do. This stove was designed to look as much like a genuine Optimus as possible without actually being a true fraud (a true fraud would actually say "Optimus" even though the stove was made by someone other than Optimus). It's actually a rather clever deception. It's close enough that some people may actually buy one thinking they've got a genuine Optimus, but if Optimus sues in a court of law, they can point out that it says Optemas not Optimus and that the manufacturer, Kausar, is clearly imprinted on the stove. HJ
Hello all Thank you for variously examining this stove. Moreover, please forgive the time lag in my answer. I thought Pakistan first. However, it might be India as everyone is pointed out. However, is it proof of this stove producer's pride to do KAUSAR and the stamp? Regards Motoshi
Not surprising! For instance I saw many stoves with brand names very close to "Optimus" here in Turkiye. Obtemus, Optrimus so and so....
Good Morning, Motoshi, I rather like your Optemas NO. 100 stove, as it is obviously different, and seems fairly well manufactured. With such info in mind, I hope you plan to keep it for your collection. It is fun and interesting to have a few "different" stoves, is it not?!! Thank you for sharing your Optemas with us, and congratulations for having found this one. Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
The flame spreaders stamping should be read with the "AS" being the final word after Optimus. "AS" in Denmark would be the same as "LTD" indicating a limited company. So Optimus AS. Did that make any sense ???
Hi Bob, Both the burner plate and the stove are branded "Optemas" so I'd say it's a pretty good bet that the flame spreader is original. Cheers, Graham.
Hello Sefa. You say that the stove of the name that looks like OPTIMUS well will see a lot in Turkiye. Where are those stoves made? This OPTEMAS100 might be one of those stoves. After that, I asked the friend in South Korea to send the photograph of Arabic script written in the tank. Regards Motoshi
Hi Motoshi, they were all made in Turkiye, here...But their quality never made me feel safe if I light them. So I never collect Turkish brand stoves. In my view a stove is a stove, if I can run it safely...
